The holster is good to very good, with a cleaning rod included and an original strap. There is a small label pasted into the lid and 5 small character markings on the leather. The metal surfaces are in good condition, showing about 50% of theirarsenal finish going light at the edges from carry and use; the stock is fair to good with many small dings, mars, scratches and dents, a couple of large gouges and wear and use consistent with carry. The bolt handle shows some engraved and scratched numbers; the bottom of the pistol grip shows a P proof with the letter Z behind it. The top of the wrist shows a stamped "B". U.S.N.-marked Jenks “Mule Ear” percussion single shot carbine, .54 cal., 24” round barrel, brown finish, brass trigger guard, barrel bands and butt plate, wood stock; this gun is in overall good condition showingdark patina on metal surfaces with some brown areas on barrel marked “Wm. Jenks”, “USN”, “RC” inspected, “P” proof and dated 1846; action is crisp, good early smooth bore with round loading aperture (standard aperture isoval); lockplate correctly marked; wood stock shows wear with scattered dings, mars and scratches with an old crack on the right side of the wrist, some losses around the lockplate and an old “P” carved into theright side of the butt stock and left side of the stock above the trigger guard and a “C” stamped into the top of the butt stock comb. The only mule-ear type arm officially accepted by the U.S. armed forces and popular at the time for its limited number of moving parts. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.

Jenks "Mule ear" percussion Naval issue carbine by N. P. Ames, dated 1845, .52 cal. rifled, brass mounted with all features as standard on this model. The metal surfaces show some chemical coloring with some minorpitting and erosion, but good markings. The stocks show extensive repairs with a slight outline of cartouche, and the stocks are undersized from sanding slightly. There is some replacement of wood and was badly broken at wrist. Est.: $700-$1,400

Exceptional and near mint spearpoint Bowie knife marked "Manson Sheffield". The knife measures 9-7/8" overall with 6" spearpoint blade which is nearly 1" wide at thickest point. The blade shows original frostyetching and reads "Americans ask for nothing but what is right and will submit to nothing wrong" surrounded by florals with large "O.K." logo at center. The blade is near excellent and is its full dimensions with nosharpening or polishing and just minor fading, slight spotting and beginning age. The horn gripscales are inlaid with pearl on one side. There are a few losses to the grips, known in the knife trade as "bugbites" which are actually worms born in the horn which burrow out. A desirable American shipped Sheffield knife circa about 1850-70. Est.: $700-$1,400

Rare and desirable American spearpoint Bowie knife marked "Chevalier's California Knife JD Chevalier, New York". The knife measures 11-1/2" overall with 7-3/4" blade, the blade is in good condition showing some normal use, minor sharpening and slight reshaping to the point. The second two lines of the marking are light at the ends but visible. The knife is gripped in select hardwood, probably rosewood. The pommel nut is brass and showsa good patina, and this is a good looking original 19th century Chevalier with the highly desirable California mark. Note: If this grip is changed it was done by a knife maker in the 19th century and this catalogerbelieves that the grip is original; however several Bowie knife collectors have dissented, stating that it is a period change at time of knife's use. The N-S combination stock and holster for .22 caliber Colt semi-auto pistol in its original two-piece blue cardboard box by National Lead Co. of Calif. in overall fine condition showing little use, brown leather;a great accessory for that minty Colt Woodsman pistol. Est.: $300-$600.

American double barrel 10 gauge percussion shotgun with locks signed Van Wart and Son & Company. The gun measures 52" overall, with 36" barrels, German silver banded at breech, wide flattened rib with hand engraving andinlay, and engraved London twist". The stock shows a German silver cap box with iron door and small engraved inlay to belly. The gun is half stocked with iron and German silver fittings. The metal surfaces show a darkbrown patina finish with some light scattered erosion and pinprick pitting, some heaver erosions around the breech and nipples. The stock shows some small breaks and repairs at the upper edge of each lock plate, otherwisegood overall. Van Wart was primarily an importer who supplied arms to the South, and his name is seen on many percussion pistols of the 1830s-60s. This is the first big double percussion we have seen with his nameupon it. Remember, the South was desperate for arms at the time of the Civil War and these shotguns were pressed into military service and this one would definitely keep the Yankees off your porch! An American full stock percussion rifle transitioned from Kentucky to Plains rifle, untouched dark patina finish, lock marked warranted, the rest illegible, and faint trace of name on barrel beneath rust, but not readable. The rifle measures 52-1/2" with 37-1/2" barrel of approximately .36 cal. 7 groove rifling. The stock shows artificial striping, and old brass sheet repair to wrist. Dark patina finish with light toheavy scattered erosion and pinprick pitting. The triggers and lock are working; there is some loss of wood at the back area of the breech from firing and use. The brass mounts show a deep patina. We would date the rifle about 1840-1855, and is just the type to have gone west. Est.: $350-$700

Civil War percussion musket and bayonet of Belgian origin, descended in Duke family who were located in Virginia at the time of the Civil War; and the family history is traced through genealogy to Medina, OH, where it was sold to a prominent collector in the 1980s. The musket is approximately .70 cal. rifled with long range rear sight; the left side of the breech is marked "1845" and shows LF proof with crown, and the stock shows a 1845cartouche with crown over "W", and the initials "GE" and "JL" in a circular device located at the rear of the right side of stock. Of the type intended for shipboard use, which inspired our Plymouth Navy Rifle. The arm shows a deep brown patina, moderate rust and erosion, good wood, slightly heavy pitting on butt, the nipple was removed long ago; the action is good and a matching bayonet is included. The metal surfaces are in good condition, show some light erosion, spotting, surface pitting; the stock is good to very good. In its as issued militaryconfiguration, lock is working. Large brass ship’s clock by American Schaeffer & Budenberg, approx. 12-1/2” in diameter in overall good to very good condition with April 10, 1979 dated letter on Morgan’s Antiques letterhead (Shawnee,Oklahoma) stating “This round brass ship clock was used while they were building the Panama Canal! Then all of the pump & clocks were bought by Shell Pipe Line Co., and they were used in some of their stations. Whenthey closed the Station “Voshell” at Mound Ridge, Kans. Pipe tomahawk of belt size with brass trade type cast brass head, showing spike on period shaft with pewter inlays. The left side of the spike shows initials "J H" with a stylized sword splitting the letters as amakers mark. The head measures 7-1/2" from the tip of the spike to the tip of the bowl, the weapon measures 17-1/4" from end to end. The shaft appears original to the head, and shaft shows a good patina and normal wear and aging. The brass head is dark, well aged, and the bowl shows smoking. The shaft is drilled all the way through and has a good look throughout. Est.: $1,000-$2,000

This gun is in overall excellent condition showing themajority of its bright blue and vivid case colors, fine bores, crisp actions, sharp markings, excellent wood stocks; this one is near new. High quality custom stocked sporting rifle based on post-war commercial FN Mauser action and barrel in .30-06 cal. with Hensoldt scope on E Peter gunsmith signed mount in Wiesbaden. The rifle shows a 24" barrel, is44" overall, with 3-leaf folding rear sight mounted on raised and engraved milled rib. The rifle is nicely stocked in European walnut with fancy checkering bordered in carved oak leaves. The stock is also inlaidwith ivory and hardwood diamonds with ivory forend cap and pistol grip cap. The floor plate and trigger guard are nicely engraved and silver inlaid in high relief showing great stag and doe. The initials WMC aresilver inlaid into the trigger guard. The bolt and follower are engine turned. The condition is very good+ to near fine, as refinished metal at time of sporterization. The action is tight, the bore is good butdirty and will clean. The cheek piece is on the right side for a left-handed shooter using a right hand bolt, but like most German guns it will work for either shooter. A quality rifle of the type made in the '40s

Winchester Model 70 Supergrade .30-06 cal. bolt action sporting rifle, mounted with Redfield 2 X 7 power scope on Redfield mounts which are screwed into factory taps on receiver, serial #19032. The stock showscutaway on left for use with Redfield type receiver sight with 2 tap screws used as plugs. The Supergrade stock is in good condition showing some even wear, minor scratches but at least very good. Quickdetachable sling swivels are included. The floor plate and sling swivel bases show an old re-blued finish. The barrel and action show 90-95% factory blue; there is rust on butt plate. The barrel shows 50-70% thinning original blue with nickel steel and Made in U.S.A. marking. The frame shows 40-60% drifting original blue, the stocks are good to very good with some light cleaningbut no sanding. The action is good, the bore is near excellent; there is a blank in the rear sight dovetail and there is a sheared or aftermarket sight in the front sight dovetail. Triplett & Scott swivel breech loading single shot rifle, .50 cal., 30” round barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood stocks, breech marked Kentucky on left side, #504. This gun is in overall very good + conditionshowing considerable muted blue finish on the barrel and breech assembly with some scattered spots of erosion including some areas of pin prick pitting on the right side of the breech; frame shows strong traces oforiginal case colors; bore is overall good +, action is crisp, markings are good and the wood stocks are overall very good; interestingly, there is not only a sling swivel in its usual position at the bottom of the butt plate, but also one at the top of the butt plate and appears original and period as it matches the patina of the other swivel. Authentic carved cottonwood kachina figure entitled marked on bottom “Hoyesva, P.H. Shelton Jr. Box 4. Oraibi, AZ” The bottom edge of the dancer’s garment is dated 1958. The dancer measures approx. 19” and shows a1958 First Prize ribbon. With glass display case. There is a presentation to “My Little Friends” on the base which were Jimmy Johnson and his young wife. An early and incredibly nice kahina with some minor aging. One of the best we have ever seen in 40 years of selling Indian artifacts. Provenance: Johnson Collection, Idyllwild, CA. Colt model 1860 army, .44 caliber percussion, 7-1/2” barrel, fluted cylinder, four-screw frame, serial number 1499, in range that may letter as shipped to the South. The revolver shows a light grey patina finish withscattered light to moderate scattered erosion and pinprick pitting, the heavier pitting occurring on the edges of the cylinder, rear of barrel, and near the muzzle. The barrel address is good and sharp, the patent datesare visible on the cylinder and Colt’s patent on frame. The grips are very good with 50% evenly thinning varnish, some minor scratches, but generally good to very good overall. The triggerguard shows traces ofdarkened silver. All matching visible serial numbers, tight action, good overall. A much better than average early fluted army that should be further researched to location of shipment. Est: $1,500 - $3,000

Pair of high quality percussion belt pistols, barrels marked "Field & Langstroth Philadelphia". The pair measure 10" overall, with 4-1/2" barrels, approximately .50 cal. smooth bore, with attached swivel ramrods and belt hooks. The trigger guard and butt plate are nicely engraved and silvered, as are the hammers. The frames and barrels are case hardened and show 60-80% case hardening, toning slightly but still colorful. Thestocks are crisp, the belt hooks retain 50% bright blue, swivel ramrods are also silver plated. The pistols show Birmingham proof marks, and the stocks are nicely checkered. Colt Wells Fargo variation of Pocket Model, .31 cal. percussion, 3" barrel, traces of original finish, varnished wood grips; serial #119173 with "8" beneath serial number on frame, trigger guard and back strap, whichcollectors feel is a special batch number assigned to Wells Fargo Model Pockets. The cylinder, barrel and frame show strong traces of original finish with some light cleaning long ago during use. The metal surfaces arevery sharp, very good case colors on the frame. The cylinder shows 90-95% original cylinder scene, the markings are sharp, the edges very crisp. The stocks show 75-85% varnish, some wear at the edges, minor nicksand mars, 20-30% original silver, all matching serial numbers. The wedge screw has sheared in half. The action is crisp, the interior at least very good; there is some minor tacking marks on the inside of thestrap and bottom of grip. An absolutely real Wells Fargo Colt in pleasing condition. English Flintlock pistol with top mounted spring bayonet, signed "Jos'h Richards", circa 1810-1830. The pistol measures 10-1/2" overall with 5-1/2" barrel group, approximately .65 cal. smooth bore withmedium weight steel barrel. The metal surfaces show a brown patina finish with some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting. The stocks are good with fairly crisp checkering, minor mars opening around key,pin holes and just normal aging. The lock shows its correct small parts; the spring on the bayonet is weak and the bayonet is original to this pistol. A massive pocket gun for self defense that would put off mosthighwaymen. Watson & Son London marked air gun with pump and cocking key, in period handmade wood carrying case. The gun is approximately .32 cal. smooth bore, made in 2 sections and painted to resemble wood cane. The air gunmeasures approximately 36" when assembled and remains in very good+ to near fine condition with original end piece and loader. The wood case is nicely made and in good condition. The mechanism is working and this is a powerful air gun that would shoot a lead ball. These were a favorite of poachers for small birds and game, circa about 1860s-1880s. Est.: $2,250-$4,500

This gun is in overall very good condition showing approx. 30% original finish withremaining a matching grey patina; some scratching to metal on both sides of the frame and some scattered areas of erosion and pin prick pitting; good action and bore, markings are good, grips are overall goodshowing even wear and a couple old losses on the lower portion of the right grip; lanyard ring present. A very desirable Remington cartridge revolver, this quite scarce successor to the Model 1875 Army wasmanufactured between 1891 and 1896 with only approx. 2,020 units produced. Est.: $2,000-$4,000.

Parker 12ga DHE grade side by side shotgun choked Improved Cylinder and Improved Modified. 27-7/8” factory barrels, showing standard rib marked Titanic steel. The barrels show 90-95% original blue thinning at the breech and edges with some light surface erosion just starting and some pinprick pitting in a couple of spots. The frame shows 50-60% case hardening which is bright on the top of the frame drifting on the bottom ofthe frame, and very bright under the triggerguard. There is some erosion and pinprick pitting and some fairly fresh rust on the frame. The triggerguard has been lightly cleaned and shows 30% blue, a millersingle-trigger has been installed. The gun has been restocked in high-quality burl walnut with an elongated pistol grip and fancy checkering and shows a parker hard-rubber buttpad. The stock measures14-1/4” to the end of the wood, 14-5/8” to the end of the pad. The action locks tight, the bores are very good plus. Serial #208771. Est: $2,500 - $5,000

Very rare Bowie knife with original silver throat inscribed "Battelle knife" on front and engraved "made by Fred F Hassam, Boston" on reverse. The knife measures 11-1/2" overall, 7-1/8" spear point blade measuringnearly 1-1/2" across ricasso with raised median ridge; iron crossguard, silver engraved throat as mentioned, and horn grip with silver plated over brass scabbard showing large belt hook. The point haschipped slightly, the blade shows some pitting and erosion, but is generally good overall; the scabbard shows a dent and 50-70% dark original plating with a great patina. This California style knife has anassociation with the Committee of Vigilance of San Francisco, where Battelle was one of the infamous founders. This is 1 of only 3 known to sophisticated collectors. Winchester model 12, 12ga pump-action shotgun, factory engraved, 30” barrel, ventilated rib, full choked, select checkered wood stock, with inlaid black diamond, recoil pad added, serial #515122. The gun shows a quality bank note scroll engraved frame with nicely rebrowned barrels showing 90% thinning, correct colorold tobacco brown restored finish. The action has been lightly polished a satin grey, the top of the frame is marked “Ellis & Scots Patent” by the release lever. The trigger guard shows an old reblued finish of whichthe the trigger and other mounts show a 90 – 95% old flat reblued finish. Stevens Lord #36 Single-shot target pistol, .25 rimfire caliber, blue and nickel plated, checkered walnut grips, original period inscribed Saml E. Beaver from Winchester Repeating Arms Co. Serial #13. The pistolshows a fancy adjustable windage and elevation rear sight, and a folding beech type globe front sight. The frame has been drilled and an extra screw added, and the backstrap shows a drill hole for a wire-frame type shoulder stock that is missing. The barrel retains 90-95% original blue, shows some minor pitting and erosion. The frame shows 85-90% soft unpolished nickel. The grips are very good plus with a few marks.The action is tight, the bore is good to very good. The hammer shows most of its bright finish. Colt Single Action Army revolver, .38 special cal., 5-1/2" barrel, full blue finish, finely deluxe full scroll engraved, serial #227987. The engraving is extremely profuse with full coverage engraved sight, stippledand crosshatched endstrap and at least 95% coverage of metal surfaces with tight and finely cut scrolls. The revolver shows a side addressed post-war replacement barrel and cylinder with matching trigger guard,frame and backstrap. Pistol is mounted with nicely aged ivory grips. Shows a post-war hammer and trigger. No engravers signature is visible, but we attribute it to Angelo Bee who executed a series of engraved singleactions for noted Southern California collector Dr. Barnes. Colt Single Action Army revolver, U.S. issued and J inspected, serial #17634. Refer "A Continuing Study of the Colt Single Action Revolver" by John Kopec where this exact revolver is mentioned. The serial numberfalls into a group of revolvers, according to Kopec, which were issued to the 7th Cavalry. It is theorized that they were replacements for pistols lost at The Little Big Horn. This revolver #17634 falls between two 7thCavalry identified examples, #17586 and #17647, and in Mr. Kopec's letter which is included, he states there is a good probability that this single action was 7th Cavalry issued. Kopec further states in hisletter that the only deviation from originality is that the barrel was shortened to 4-3/4" and the action rebuilt. He further states the revolver has its J marked ejector assembly, the script barrel address showsproper die breaks which are consistent with this serial number range. The revolver remains in fair to good condition showing a gray patina finish with light to slightly heavy scattered erosion and pitting. The

Colt Single Action Army revolver, .45 Colt cal., 7-1/2" barrel, traces of blue and case hardened finish, one piece ivory grips, serial #20336. The revolver shows early two line patent date on left side of frame andlarge correct block letter address on barrel. The barrel and ejector rod housing show 20-40% blue drifting to brown with some bright areas where protected and on the sight. The cylinder shows 10-20% blue mostly in the flutes drifting to patina, with a index line between the stops and matching serial number. The straps show 10-20% blue going to patina with some bright areas at the top and edges where protected. The onepiece ivory grips are undersized and old, but possibly from another Colt or they have shrunk. The hammer shows 30-50% case hardening, the trigger guard shows correct marking, all matching; the front sight hasbeen reduced slightly. The action is good, the bore is good, all matching numbers, a few tapping marks on the butt. A very nice and early single action made about 1874-75, with a lot of colorful original finish. Est.:

Victorian suit of armor with closed helmet, showing full articulation and forging to the metal. The suit measures 68" in height not including base, base approximately 10". The armor shows nicely made gauntlets witharticulated fingers, elaborate leg defenses, good esthetics; very good quality antique workmanship of the 19th century. Most interesting is the suit shows lamination and legitimate aging. This suit is 100 to 150years old and is a very good looking decorator that would fool most collectors. The suit has been recently cleaned, strapped, re-hung with a good quality base added. Authentic armor was so rare that severalfirms manufactured it in the 19th century to replace suits in castles and the great halls of Europe. The pistol remains in very good+ to near fine original condition showing 85-95% original blue, thinning on highpoints and edges; some slight erosion and pinprick pitting, mostly on the front left of muzzle and some other minor scattered erosion. The grips are very good+ showing a small loss at the top edge just beneath thesafety. The markings are sharp, the edges are crisp and the small parts show strong original "straw". The clip is a correct wood bottom WWI clip with matching number, and the pistol is completely matching with abright bore. Themetal surfaces show a grey to brown patina finish and scattered light to moderate erosion, the engraving is sharp, the metal is good, the stocks are good with some dings, mars, scratches, normal aging. Very rare Colt Model 1855 revolving percussion carbine, IN .40 CALIBER, 21” round barrel, blue finish, wood butt stock, #1481. This gun is in well-worn but uncleaned condition showing a heavy dark patina onmetal surfaces with scattered pitting on the frame and cylinder at firing areas; good action, dark bore; overall good wood butt stock with scattered old mars and scratches from storage; loading lever shows an oldrepair. This gun was turned up in the South by W.R. Powell in 1997 (letter to that effect with additional information from Mr. Powell is included with this lot); according to “The Book of Colt Firearms” by Sutherland andWilson, on page 182, less than 25 .40 caliber Model 1855 carbines were manufactured with only 15 of those being in the 21” barrel variety; the chances of seeing such a Colt rarity offered for sale at auction again areobviously slim and this one is complete down to the original saddle ring. Rare AH Fox 12ga single-barrel trap shotgun, 32” barrel, ventilated trap type rib, factory scroll engraved action, select pistol grip trap-style stock, serial #400231. Choked Modified, and remains in very good conditionshowing 90-95% original blue on barrel. 75-85% case hardening on action and triggerguard which is starting to age and tone with some beginning erosion and pinrprick pitting and loss of finish ontriggerguard. The grip cap is nicely engraved “AH Fox”. The stocks show approx. 90% of their original varnish just some light cracking and minor crazing and fit up to the metal nicely with good crisp checkering. Massive pair of 4-shot hand revolved Flintlock pistols signed "Lambert Dite Biron", circa 1770-1810. The pair measure 13" overall, with 6-1/2" cannon barrels of approximately .45 cal. false rifle. Thestocks are nicely checkered walnut and show scroll carving at the top of the wrist along with a silver plaque, beautifully engraved with the initials "FP" in fancy script letters. The stocks show a nice burl woodgrain and crisp checkering. The metal surfaces are in good to very good condition, showing some light erosion and pinprick pitting, but no polishing and all the original parts. The barrels are released bya spring in the trigger guard, and the condition is generally very good overall with just a few minor marks in the wood stocks. The pistols are of very large proportions, weighing 3-1/4 pounds each. It isinteresting to note that an almost identical pair are pictured in the Harolds Club Museum Collection, which were attributed to ownership by Napoleon. This single action was just discovered in acollection near Albuquerque, New Mexico and shows roll die marked "Colt Frontier Six Shooter" on left side of barrel; the revolver is nicely engraved with deep cut Nimschke style broad scrolls, with typical geometricsand rope borders. The pistol is completely uncleaned and unpolished, and shows 30-60% finish, conservatively. There is 20-30% gold left over the silver base plate on the ejector rod housing, cylinder and hammercombined. There is some pitting where the plating has lifted, but generally very good overall; good sharp barrel address and markings, good edges, and grips are good with small losses at the corners. The revolver shows serial #115767G with G in sub-inspection on trigger guard, 132625 on backstrap, no number on cylinder, showing RAC on back indicating arsenal replacement at time of reissue and shortening of thebarrel to 5-1/2". The barrel shows a block letter address RAC and P inspections with military ejector rod housing, rod and spring (the barrel also likely replaced when returned to arsenal). The grips show RACcartouche and 1902 date on right side with small RAC stamps on the bottom of each grip. The barrel and cylinder show 60-80% toning blue finish with some light erosion and pinprick pitting, some slight scratching,minor storage marks. Colt Single Action Army revolver, .45 Colt cal, 5-1/2" barrel , blue and case hardened finish, hard rubber grips, serial #350951 with affidavit stating this Colt by serial number belonged to Texas Ranger and westernlawman Jeff B. Milton. The affidavit states that this gun and a note from Jeff Milton were given to Alvin Brian Otto by Earl Quinn, brother of John Quinn of Navasota, Texas. Earl Quinn owned the local drug store andjohn Quinn owned a cotton plantation. John and Earl Quinn's mother was maiden named Yarbrough, and a direct blood relative of Jeff Milton. The note read: "Dear Earl, this old .45 has been handy for some years.You only put 5 ctgs. in that will do the trick. 6 is bad if you drop it. Uncle Jeff." The document further states "John D. These .54 cal. rocketball guns were among the earliest American experiments in thedevelopment of the repeating rifle. Colt Single Action Army revolver, .44 rimfire cal., New York style scroll engraved, carved ivory grips showing Mexican snake and eagle; barrel reduced to approximately 5-3/8", traces of original nickel finish, serial#1225. Only a handful of original engraved .44 rimfire Colts are known, and this pistol is well known to collectors and was originally in an old Texas collection for decades. The metal surfaces show carry andholster wear, the engraving very worn; the grips also worn almost all the way down. Only a trace of patent dates are visible, the barrel address is good; the sight is repositioned during use, and the left side of the muzzle is worn from being holstered. The firing pin is an old handmade replacement, the slot in the frame is unopened. Matching frame, trigger guard and backstrap; no number visible on cylinder dueto heavy use. Sharps Sporting rifle conversion by noted Western gunsmith H. This gun is in overall very good condition showing a grey patina on barrel with scattered areas of erosion and pin prick pitting, receiver has gone to silvery tone and grey patina with slighttraces of case color; overall good bore, crisp action, set trigger working at time of description; top of barrel marked “H. Slotterbek Los Angeles” with Lawrence rear adjustable ladder sight and front sight basemissing blade; the fore stock is Slotterbek customized with fancy pewter cap, barrel key with escutcheons with shield and half moon inlays on bottom area; military butt stock also has an oval engraved and pierced plaqueand the Sharps steel butt plate has been expertly modified with a small butt trap, also most likely accomplished by the Slotterbek shop; wood is overall very good and shows better-than-usual graining pattern.

Percussion under hammer pistol, signed "N Delany" on barrel, nicely inlaid with brass showing whaling motifs and inscribed "My work 1863 Jas. Fogg Master Whaler, Martha Lee". The pistol measures 1' overall, with 7-1/8"barrel of approximately .41 cal. rifle; with simple American under hammer action, whereas the trigger works as a sear. The barrel shows engraving and bluing in a fancy pattern of which approximately 30-50% remains.There was also bluing and etching on the trigger plate, of which now traces remain, and on the tang which also shows traces. The right side of the stock shows sperm whale, pilot whale and fouled anchor, left side ofthe stock shows great whale, swordfish and sextant in nicely made old brass inlays; the large whale inlay on left grip is inscribed with the inscription referenced above. Spencer Model 1865 repeating carbine, .56-50 cal., 19" barrel, blue and case hardened finish, serial #1141. The barrel shows 75-85% arsenal blue finish evenly starting to drift and tone with some just minorspotting, light erosion and normal aging. The frame, saddle ring bar, lockplate, hammer and lever show 15-30% original case hardening, drifting to silvery gray patina with some good colors on the lockplate. Theaction is good, the bore is near fine and still bright, the inside of the action shows bright case hardening. The stocks are good with a small inspectors stamp E A W on the top of the comb by the butt plate. The buttplate shows 10-20% case hardening, an original magazine tube is included. The Model 1865 marking on barrel is sharp, the address on the frame is slightly weak due to being re-issued by arsenal. A favoriteIndian War era carbine that started life in the Civil War. English double rifle in .577-500 black powder express cal., with exposed hammers, under lever, signed "Thomas Turner, Fisher Street, Birmingham". The rifle measures 42-1/2" overall with 26" barrels, the barrels shows 60-80% original blue drifting to brown, and show a nicely filed rib with a folding rear sight. The lockplates show 15-30% case hardening; the frame has been lightly cleaned long ago and is going back to a patina. The stocks have been nicely refinished, nice checkering and a good appearance. The action is tight, the bores are near excellent, the arm is fully functioning and in very good condition. Colt Single Action Army revolver, .32-20 cal., 4-3/4" barrel, western style scroll engraved, nickel plated, medallion faux pearl grips, serial #321363. This late First Generation single action shows the style ofengraving put on at saddle shops, jewelry stores and other western locations during the 1920s and 30s. Wolf & Klar of Fort Worth, Texas, most notably engraved a great deal of their Colt inventory in that period. Authentic Civil War era powder horn, carved with image of ironclad gunboat Tyler. The horn measures approximately 10-3/4" from tip to end and approximately 2-1/2" across the widest part of the wooden plug. The base ofthe horn is tacked with old original to-the-period iron tacks which show a dark original patina. A portion of an original wood plug is retained in the tip. The condition is good other than a small breakand loss to the tip which is minor, and some normal wear and aging. The gunboat Tyler is depicted flying the Union Flag, with large cannon on her stern; also, smokestack is blowing smoke which is drifting to the frontof the horn. Historically, the gunboat Tyler was a riverboat purchased by the U. S. Government in 1861 and armored by installation of steel plate. Tyler served with Admiral Farragut and assisted in thecapture of New Orleans and other engagements, which included a battle with the C. S. S. Jackson near Hickman, Kentucky and other actions on the Ohio, Tennessee and Mississippi. She engaged the Confederates

Colt Model 1862 Police, .36 cal. percussion, New York scroll engraved, silver and gold plated with "Tiffany" grips showing Mexican snake and eagle, serial #2426. This pistol was recently discovered in France and thegrips are absolutely genuine to the 19th century, and not 20th century copies. The metal surfaces show 30-60% original silver and gold with a heavy unpolished and natural patina, showing some erosion and normal metal aging and absolutely no cleaning. The grips are beautiful and crisp showing the quality that the 20th century copies just can't match. The markings are good, action not quite working, matching visible serialnumbers. Exhibition quality spear point Bowie knife by Geo Wostenholm and Sons showing legend celebrated hunting knife, I.X.L. Washington Works Sheffield, with fancy etched blade, elaborate guard, tortoiseshell grip, Germansilver mounted original scabbard. The blade measures 11-1/2", the knife measures 17-1/2" overall, the blade 1-5/8" wide at widest point and constructed of thick stock measuring approximately 3/8" across the backedge. The blade is in very good+ to near fine condition, showing some light cleaning, full dimensions and all of its high quality etching down the center. The guard is fashioned in an elite design with grooves and serrations. The grip is tortoiseshell, in good condition with a couple areas of cracking and small losses that are minor. Colt U.S. Cavalry Series single action revolver, .45 cal., 7-1/2" barrel, Ainsworth inspected, returned to arsenal and refurbished for Spanish American War, serial #3610. An authenticating letter from notedexpert, John A. Kopec recants number 3610 was a new listing in the database. Serial #3632 was a 7th Cavalry revolver, and #3667 belonged to Company D, 6th Cavalry. In the book, "Colt Cavalry and Artillery Revolvers", #3632 was found 6 miles from the Custer battlefield in 1880. Also, #3615, #3623, #3625 and #3640 are documented 4th Calvary guns sent to Texas. Kopec states the revolver was completely correct with veryfaint outline of "O. W. Ainsworth" cartouche on left. He further states the full blue finish was applied at a Government Arsenal; however he could not establish absolutely that it was the Manila Arsenal, but it is apossibility. Colt Single Action Army revolver,. 45 cal., 7-1/2" barrel, broad scroll engraved, nickel and gold plated, carved ivory grips showing Mexican snake and eagle on left, serial #243072. There is a stylized signature onthe butt encircling the serial number. The engraving is well cut and somewhat deep; the metal surfaces have been heavily polished and refinished. The left grip is well carved with a snake and eagle and the grips showpatina and cracking. The action is good, the bore is good, the front sight slimmed down. The engraving and carving is similar to that done by Willie Aguao, who worked for Robert Elz in the '50s through the '70s and movedback to Texas in the late 1970s, where he worked for another decade. Colt Model 1849 Pocket Model, .31 cal. percussion, 4" barrel, fully and finely deluxe Gustave Young scroll engraved, strong traces of blue and case hardened finish, varnished wood grips, serial #154212. Thebarrel address shows Sam'l Colt hand cut in script letters, and left side of the barrel lug shows typical Young scrolls, cobwebs, flowers, and is of a higher than standard grade. The frame is also nicely engravedwith parrot eagle and matching tight scrolls to barrel, hammer and rammer. The screws are also engraved and the engraving is very crisp. The barrel shows 10%+ blue within a browning patina, the address is sharp, theedges fairly crisp; the front left side of barrel just ahead of address shows notches purposely cut in for a divider, then 2 more. The select burl wood grips show 75% varnish, slight wear at the edges and are good tovery good. The hammer and lever are nicely engraved to match. All matching visible serial numbers, bright blue beneath the rammer. The trigger guard screw, butt plate screw and hammer screw are old replacements.

Colt 1860 Army revolver, .44 cal. percussion, scroll engraved, carved and checkered ivory grips, serial #151992. The engraving is somewhat crude but shows age, the ivory grips are well worn. The metal surfaces showlight to slightly heavy pitting and have been polished. The left grip shows a repair at the back and wear, the right grip also repaired at the back and very worn with losses. The frame number and trigger guardnumber match, the backstrap and trigger guard number are only partially visible and the engraving in many places appears to be retraced. Traces of original cylinder scene, with some bad nicks on the cylinder. Action good, bore fair, has southwestern character. Est.: $2,000-$4,000

The markings are sharp, the edges arecrisp, the pistol shows proper early marks including serial number at forward area right side of frame, model of 1911 U.S. Navy on right side of slide, early 1897 patent date on left side, United States property on leftside of frame with WGP correct proof. All correct early parts except three grip screws are old replacements. An early lanyard loop magazine is included. The markings are sharp, the edges are crisp, the boor is good. Original oil painting on artist board showing cowboy on horseback twirling lasso, approximately 18-3/4" x 10", signed lower right H. W. Hansen. Hansen was a very well recognized artist at the turn of the century, who was based in San Francisco, and produced illustrative western art for beer companies, magazines, periodicals, etc. His horses with bulging eyes were a trademark, and he was a contemporary and friend to MaynardDixon and William Keith. He had his first exhibition in 1901; in 1903 he traveled to the Crow Reservation in Montana and he continued to paint and travel in the west until his death in 1924. He was trained atthe Art Institute of Chicago, and his works are sought by collectors and museums throughout the world. His artworks have fetched up to $80,000 at auction, and the cover piece for his book sold privately formore than $150,000 a decade ago. The artwork is in good condition, needing just a slight cleaning, and is nicely framed with a carved and gilded wood frame. Est.: $2,000-$4,000

Moore Teat Fire 6-shot revolver, period script inscribed "presented to Hon. Wm. F. Stearns" on backstrap, and "by C B Phillips" on inside of frame at gripping area. The barrel and cylinder show an old re-bluedfinish, the frame was lightly cleaned long ago, the grips are good, the gun is numbered G06. A documenting letter from a well known author and firearms expert, Lee Silva, is included, which in summary states WilliamFrench Stearns owned a prosperous mercantile store in Bombay, India, during the 1850s and '60s where he met Dr. David Livingstone. When Dr. Livingstone "disappeared" and Stanley found him, uttering the famous words"Dr. Livingstone, I presume?". At the time, many felt that the event was staged and that Stanley's letters that he brought back from Livingstone were forgeries. Stearns was one of the key witnesses who identifiedLivingstone's writings, which were finally accepted as genuine, mainly due to Stearns. Ruger No. 1 custom big game express rifle in .450 3-1/2" cal., 24" factory heavyweight barrel, blue and case hardened finish, select checkered custom select burl walnut stock showing case hardened rib and quickdetachable mounts with Helia 2S2 scope by Kahles of Austria. The quality of the restocking and refinishing is excellent, accomplished by a master gunsmith. The stock measures 13-7/8" to the end of the wood, 15" to the end of the hard rubber pad. The rifle shows mounts for quick detachable sling swivels. The condition is fine to excellent as upgraded at time of refinish and the case hardening and blue is first class, as good a quality as 19th century arms. Original signature of famous American Native Indian combatant who was the victor at the Battle of the Little Big Horn, Sitting Bull. The clip signature is mounted on a page from a scrapbook which has been nicely framedwith a reproduction photograph of Sitting Bull. The page from the scrapbook also shows "Columbus stamp", signature of B. M. Strong, collector who identified the signature, newspaper articles, and a 1811 $5.00 banknote, all glued to the page, and an obituary for O. W. Strong of Vienna Township who was likely a relative in Connecticut. The condition is fair, needing slight restoration and cleaning. We have no doubt to theauthenticity of this signature and it was purchased by one of southern California's most prominent collectors from a major auction company dealing in autographed coins and stamps. Winchester Model 12, 20 gauge pump action shotgun, WS-1 choked (skeet), with factory style spoon back rib, Cutts compensator along with upgraded fancy checkered and pistol gripped burl wood stock, serial #1923562.The barrel measures 26" from the end of the choke to the front of the bolt. The gun retains 90-95% restored blue finish which is nicely redone, possibly by the factory, and the proofs are in proper position indicatingfactory rib. The stocks are very good+ with a fancy grain, and a unusual light to dark color. The stock measures 14-1/2" to the end of the pad, 13-7/8" to the end of the wood. Cahill Colt #294177 that belonged to and carried by my grandfather Nabor Pacheco". He states Nabor Pacheco was a Deputy Sheriff in Pima County, Arizona,circa early 1900s. Pacheco was the first native born officer to hold the title of Sheriff in Pima County. Pacheco was involved in hangings, gunfights and normal western lawman duties in his tenure as Sheriff andlater Chief of Police of this historic western town. Experimental Civil War era carbine, attributed to Terry. Carbine shows .58 cal., 22” barrel, 38-1/2” overall in fine to excellent condition showing original bright and case hardened finishes. No markings orserial numbers. This unusual prototype carbine was originally in the Bob Jeska collection, who specialized in rare military arms and particularly rare Civil War carbines. The action is exposed by a boltmounted on the right side at rear of frame and a trapdoor type hinge which flips up, similar to Snyder. A plunger type bolt pulls to the reverse to expose the breech. The bolt is pushed forward to close the breech,the trapdoor closes to lock, the bolt handle closes to lock, which secures the breech. The hammer is manually cocked and the nipple primed. A solid and good design. The carbine is in near fine condition showing just slight staining to the bright finishes and beginning normal aging. The lock and hammer show 95% bright original case hardening that is still fiery. The stocks are very good+ to near fine with some storage type scratches

Churchill 12 gauge double barrel boxlock shotgun, 25" barrels, English style straight stock, single trigger, auto ejectors, hand filed non-ventilated low rise rib; in original case, showing number 32 OrangeStreet, London address, serial #8152. The gun is choked improved cylinder right, modified left. The condition is fine to near excellent showing 95-98% original bright blue and case hardening, some very slighthandling and use; the stock is also near excellent, case colors are fiery, trigger guard shows nearly 100% original bright blue. The barrels show 2-3/4" chamber proof and 3-1/4 tons per square inch proof marks, andare the post-war British proofs. The gun is contained within its original luggage case that is canvas trimmed with leather; the case is in very good condition with some minor scuffs and normal use, but is at least verygood and shows matching makers label in the lid. Authentic 19th century clip point Bowie knife with cutlery handle, blade marked "John Coe" in shield with trademark "I prefer" and "Sheffield". The blade shows stampings "I am for use" in banner, eagle with arrows,American hunting knife, hunter with 4 sets of dogs, and bull. The blade measures 9-1/4", shows a clip point, is of thick stock measuring almost 1/4" across back of ricasso; the blade shows 2 large nicks at the center, some minor erosion and pinprick pitting, but is generally good with most of its polish and is its full original dimensions. The silvered grip shows a small loss at the pommel area. The original scabbard ismissing the tip, retains the throat and button; the scabbard is fragmenting and opening at the edges and in poor condition. L.C. Smith Trap grade 12 gauge SXS shotgun, 28-1/2" barrels, single trigger, auto ejectors, restocked and restored. The gun is choked Improved Cylinder right and Improved Modified left; the barrels have been mono-blocked and the quality of the restoration is very good; the stock measures 14-1/2" to the end of the wood; 15-1/4" to the end of the rubber butt pad. Saudi Arabian mid to late 19th century presentation sword in display case, showing Saudi Crest on scabbard and center of case. The metal surfaces are heavy gold plated over base metal with simulated white stones andfaux ivory handles. The blade is polished steel and there is a woven fabric hangar included. These swords were gifted by the Royal Family as favors to diplomats and important personages. Condition is fine tonear excellent, probably dates about 1960s-1970s from consigner's information. Revolutionary War era Scottish flintlock pistol with brass stock, heart shaped butt, British proofed but unmarked as to maker, in untouched original condition with dark patina finish. The pistol is .58 cal. smooth bore, with 7-1/2" barrel, 12" overall. The lock, barrel and trigger show a deep patina with scattered light to moderate pitting and erosion and no cleaning whatsoever. The stock shows a deep patina and 2 holes forbelt hook, which is missing. A rammer with matching patina of correct style and era is included. This pistol is in its original flintlock configuration with all correct parts. The dagger measures 17" overall with 11-1/2" blade, the crossguard is engraved withthistles and flowers and a center panel showing arm coming up from lake, wearing armor, holding dagger, with the slogan "vincere vel mori". The hilt of the dagger is mounted with a brilliant orange goldstone, the scabbard is gold gilded over brass and shows light engraving with oak leaves and thistle. The knife and fork also show stones in hilt. The blade is excellent to near mint; the grips show just some slighthandling and the dagger is very good+ to near fine overall. The dagger measures 18-1/2" overall, 13-1/2" bladeshowing etching with crown, florals and thistle. Blade is very good+ with most of its original polish, just slight aging. The brass scabbard is very heavily plated and shows engraving of thistles, florals andgeometrics. The pommel cap is nicely engraved with stand of arms. The knife and fork set are studded and carved to match the large dagger handle. A leather belt attachment is included; the back of thescabbard is beautifully engraved with makers logo that reads "Hunter Army Contractor South Bridge Edinburgh". Est.: $2,000-$4,000

Remington-Lee bolt action .45-70 cal. U. S. Martially marked rifle, 32" round barrel, 2 band, type contracted for U.S. Army, 1 of 770 produced, refer Fladerman 5E-124, serial #9694. The barrel retains 85-95% originalmilitary blue finish, evenly aging and toning with some minor spotting and beginning light erosion, some dried grease, a few storage marks and scratches. The breech shows U. S. marking with a large VP proof. The left side of the receiver shows a U. S. acceptance stamp, the bolt and frame show DFC inspections. Also there is a DFC cartouche fully visible on the butt stock, right side near the top edge. The left side of thestock is stamped with military rack type marks, 28 large B over NB. The frame, trigger guard and butt plate show a nice light patina; there is a star proof with "E" initial on the right rear trigger guard bow. The stock shows some dings, mars and scratches consistent with military storage, but is at least very good. All the original sights, small parts, and wiping rod are retained. The bore is bright. An

U. S. Model 1834 General Officers sword, attributed to manufacture by Frederick Widmann, in very good+ original condition showing finely hand engraved scabbard, etched blade, gilt mounts, formerly in the C. F.Runtsch collection. The blade is in very good condition, showing most of its fine etching, just some minor erosion, pinprick pitting just starting. The blade is at least very good+, the hilt shows 30-50% toninggold gilt with original wire wrap. The scabbard is very nicely engraved with U.S. and oak leaves and a Union type shield towards the tip. The scabbard shows 50-70% gold gilt, is in very good condition showinga few minor dents. A difficult U. S. Springfield Trapdoor model U.S. military issue rifle, model 1884. In fine to excellent original condition, serial #445487. The stock shows “SVW / 1889” cartouche on left side. The rifle retains 95-98% original blue, with good sharp eagle marking, some minor dried oil, and just beginning metal age. The breech block shows 90-95% case hardening, and 75% case hardening on the tang. The stocks are very good plus to near fine with somestorage scratches, mars, and dings that are all minor. The stock shows a sharp “P” proof and “J” initial just behind triggerguard. The bands show a very slight amount of finish loss. The butt shows 80% original blue, theedges are sharp, the markings are crisp. Original cleaning rod and small parts retained. Bore excellent and still bright. 9.5-9.7 on 1-10 scale. Colt Single Action Army revolver, US Artillery series, .45 caliber, 5-1/2” barrel, serial #32123 inspected by Lewis Draper, matching serial numbers. Pictured on page 240, A Study of the Colt Single ActionRevolver by Kopec, Graham, and Moore. With factory letter. Stating delivered to the US Government, December 8th, 1876. Letter address to noted collector and entertainer Mel Torme. The revolver shows 30-50%darkening blue and case hardened finish, some erosion and pinprick pitting, some slightly heavy pitting on the front left side of muzzle. Front sight has been slimmed slightly. Grips have been bunk-housecheckered in a diamond pattern. The markings are slightly light on the barrel, sharp on the frame. Barrel shows a “P” proof and “DFC” inspection. Cylinder shows a “P” proof. “JTC” inspection with matching number oncylinder. Colt Single Action Army revolver, .44-40 cal., 4-3/4" barrel, finely Germanic black leaf scroll engraved, with finely hand stippled backgrounds, raised carved ivory grips showing flying eagles with no screwhole, serial #S03777A, produced on custom shop order #4529A with letter from Barry Lee Hands recanting the story of this revolver having been stripped and polished by John Brown, who shipped them to Hands. The orderstates this is one of two guns for "bangers", one was sent to Hands the other to John Adams. Mr. Hands states that the engraving was very tedious due to the large amount of time to accomplish the hand stippledbackground. He further states he produced only one other for the Colt shop. The letter details the original of the scroll which follow the lines of the engraving. With duplicate of custom shop order #4529A, dated6/1/93. Colt Python .357 magnum 4"revolver , blue finish, shipped to Nelson Roanoke Corp of Roanoke, VA, March 6, 1974, ten guns in shipment. A letter from Robert H. O'Meara to Mr. David Tate states the revolver wasengraved and silver inlaid by Howard Dove after a Colt Collectors Association meeting in Dallas in 1991. Doc O'Meara speaks of his friendship with Dove who engraved it for him. A copy of money order from Tate toO'Meara for Python is included, along with photographs of Howard Dove engraving, and photographs of O'Meara and Tate handling the Colt. Also, emails back and forth between these two well known collectors. The revolver remains in fine to excellent condition as re-blued with royal blue finish at time of engraving. The silver bands have darkened and would clean nicely; the pistol has been mounted with stag grips and the front sightchanged to a bead type. Approximately 98-99% blue with some minor handling and firing since refinish. The action has been worked and lightened. Howard Dove is considered by Colt collectors to be one of the finest. W.W. Greener 12ga double barrel boxlock shotgun with side safety, cross bolt lock, 30” barrels, double trigger, standard extractors, serial number “54464” marked “Grade F 20” on tang. Bottom of barrels shownitro proofs for 1-1/4oz loads. Barrels show 90-95% original blue, evenly thinning and toning, just some slight losses at the edges,. Frame has faded to slight grey with traces of case hardening mixed it. Triggerguard shows most of its original blue that has dulled, as has the lever. The stocks have been lightly cleaned with steel wool but are at least very good with fairly sharp checkering. The stock measures approx.13-7/8” from the trigger to the end of the wood. 14-7/8” to the end of the pad. The action is tight, bores are near excellent. A quality English gun by a known London maker. Parker VHE-grade 12ga double-barrel shotgun, 32” barrels, double triggers, auto-ejectors, serial number “147902”. The barrels show approx. 75-80% original toning blue finish with some minor scratches, even losses, andjust starting minor aging. The frame shows 30-60% original thinning toning case hardened colors with some faint areas of rainbow colors showing in the patina, particularly in the tang beneath the lever and bottom sideof frame. The left barrel is marked “JG” in a circle, the right barrel is marked “V” in a circle, the initials “HT/A”, a large “4” a small “2”. The rear lug is marked “12” for 12ga and “2” for size of frame. The stocksare in good original condition with slight wear to the checkering to the forend, some minor dings mars, scratches, normal carry and use. The wood measures its full original length and shows correct parker grip cap andbutt plate. The action is tight, the bores are bright. There is an old tag attached to the trigger guard which reads, “Full and full choke. Manufactured 1907.” Est.: $2,500-$4,000

English Adams DA percussion revolver with rare and desirable period Agent’s marking on top of frame “MADE EXPRESSLY FOR HYDE & GOODRICH NEW ORLEANS”, .36 cal., 4” octagon barrel, engraved frame, blue finish,checkered wood grips, #1046. This gun is in overall very good condition showing traces of original blue finish in protected areas with balance gone to a brown patina; some traces of case colors on the loading lever, goodrifling in bore, crisp action, sharp markings, very good grips. These guns were popular in the South during the Civil War and any Hyde & Goodrich marked revolver is highly sought after by collectors of CivilWar and Confederate States artifacts; most were “ridden hard and put up wet”; this one is one of the better ones we’ve seen in some time. Colt Single Action U. S. Issue .45 Colt cal., arsenal returned for re-issue in Spanish American War era, with 5-1/2" barrel, blue and case hardened finish, frame number 8072. A documenting letter from John A. Kopec,co-author "Calvary and Artillery Revolvers" states "this serial number 8072 is listed in the National Archives Records as belonging to Battery A, Wyoming Artillery during 1899". Kopec recants that Calvary revolvers thathad served on the western frontier were returned to the Springfield Armory and re-issued for the Spanish American War, and Mr. Kopec states " the subject revolver was altered at the Springfield Armory in 1898".He further states "the trigger guard shows number 385, and sub-inspection by Ainsworth in the range of the 6th Cavalry with a double hit to the 8th stamp". The backstrap shows number 120957 and this number was fitted to a Calvary revolver that has served with the Railway Mail Service; which these revolvers were returned to the arsenal November 11, 1890, refer "A Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver", page 566. The

Henry Nordhaus, Deming, New Mexico marked jock strap holster with matching money belt/cartridge belt by same maker for 5-1/2" Colt single action. The holster shows double markings on center of holster and strap, the belt and tab is also double stamped with makers marks. The face of the holster shows a 45 stamp, the tab of the holster shows a 44 stamp. The cartridge loops fit either .44 or .45 cartridges. The condition is verygood with small scuffs, minor losses, slight wear, normal aging, but completely original and well marked. Matching holsters and gun belts by western makers are rare and desirable, and this is the best a New Mexicocollector could find after a long hunt and 40 years of collecting. We know of only two better, which were from the Peter Stein collection. Est.: $5,000-$10,000

Colt Model 1905, .45 ACP cal., semi-automatic pistol, retaining most of its bright commercial blue finish, checkered wood grips, serial #3595. This stunning 1905 Colt retains 95-98% original bright blue, justslight losses at muzzle and high points. The blue is bright and inky and the pistol has had very little use, showing 95% case hardening on the hammer and nearly all the fire blue on small parts and screws. Thegrips also are crisp and near excellent, the markings are sharp, the action is crisp, the bore is bright. A correct original magazine is retained with 90-95% blue on the bottom plate. A strong 9.5 on 1 to 10 scale whichwould be difficult to improve upon, and the best example a TJCA collector could find in 40 years of collecting Colt autos. Est.: $6,000-$12,000

Colt Single Action Army revolver, .45 cal., 4-3/4" barrel, blue and case hardened finish, hard rubber eagle grips, shipped to E. J. Post, Albuquerque, New Mexico Territory, March 23, 1887, with information verified byfactory but no factory letter available at time of cataloging. The pistol shows 30-50% evenly toning and aging blue and case hardened finish with just normal aging; good sharp edges, sharp markings and generallycrisp overall, with some slight wear at left side of muzzle from being carried in a holster. The front sight shows bright original blue and has been reduced just slightly, the hard rubber eagle grips fitimpeccably and are at least very good. All matching visible serial numbers, some marks on the cylinder pin and underside of barrel, good tight action and good bore. Legible markings, very good grips, bright finish on small parts, 75% case hardening on hammer. Action good, bore and interior verygood; the grips show some oil staining but checkering sharp with bright blue on screws, a stress crack in right grip that is minor. Model 1879 Trapdoor Springfield carbine, .45-70 cal., in near fine original condition, serial #227859. The barrel retains 92-96% bright original blue, some slight scratches, minor losses, and just beginning normal age. The lock plate shows 90-95% original blue, the breech shows original quenched colors; the breech block and tang show 75-85% case hardening, toning slightly. The stock shows a fully defined and crisp SVW 1882 datedcartouche. The stock is very good+ to near fine with a few minor dings, mars, scratches and dents. There is a P proof behind the trigger guard with a small J.C. letter stamp. The trigger guard shows 80-90% blue, thebarrel band shows 90-95% bright original blue. The butt plate shows 70-80% thinning blue, the saddle ring and bar show most of their original finish. The rear sight also shows most of its original blue and is thecorrect type. 19th century Blunderbuss of Mexican origin with tower marked block, cast bronze cannon barrel, crudely made Mexican stocks, mounts and fittings. The arm measures 39-1/2" overall with 23-1/4" bell mount cannon typebrass barrel which measures approximately 1-1/2" across the bore with very thick walls to the cannon barrel. The left side of the barrel shows British V P proofs with TH barrel makers mark. The center part of thebarrel is nicely engraved "Cavite Hacienda de Recoletos en Ymus 6 licencia para iuarla 3 de Enero de 1842" and dated with a crown and R proof near the breech. This blunderbuss was sold by Little John's about 2 years agoto a prominent collector in Prescott, Arizona who is now retiring and has reconsigned this blunderbuss and his collection. Pair of Spanish flintlock era Miquelet pistols converted to percussion, originally circa about 1800-1830, and converted 1830-1860. The pistols are full stocked to the muzzle with checkered grips, plain brassmounts; they measure 15-1/4" overall with 10-1/4" barrels of approximately .62 cal. smooth bore. The hammers show chiseling at the top with typical style lion effigy. The marks on the barrel simulate Spanish markings that are indistinct and these pistols have a distinctly Colonial look, possibly made in Mexico or South America. The condition is good to very good with original to-the-period ramrod, slight wear, normal aging and noabuse. The type of pistol that would have been used by the military to guard the roads and missions of Texas to California during the end of the Colonial era which terminated in 1847 at the close of the Mexican-AmericanWar. Pair of fine quality full side-lock double-barrel side by side shotguns signed Hussey, Ltd. of London in their original trunk-type carrying case with maker’s label in lid, serial numbers “12010” and “12011”.The pair are 12ga and show 29” barrels that are fully nitro proofed for 2-1/2 tons and 2-1/2” chambers (now lengthened to 2-3/4”). The pair are marked ‘patent ejector” and indeed show automatic ejectors, and arenicely English scroll engraved with select walnut stocking, crisply checkered wrists and forends with English style straight grip and checkered butts. The stocks measure approximately 15-1/4” from the front triggerto the end of the wood. The pair are professionally restored and show traces of original case hardening and gone to silver on gun number two, and faint traces of color on case hardening lightly polished to silver on gun number one. Colt Model 1911 Commercial Series Government Model, .45 ACP cal., high polish blue finish, checkered wood medallion grips, with holster, shipped to Lt. Kenyon A. Joyce, March 5, 1913, one gun in shipment, withfeatures and recipient noted in factory letter, serial #C2988. Kenyon Ash Joyce had a long career and was a classmate and friend of General George S. Patton. He enlisted in the Army in 1898 as a Private, and he rose to the rank of Major General; he was wounded by a grenade in WWI and lost the use of a hand. He received the Distinguished Service Medal and the French Croix de Guerre. He had a very interesting service record, from thePhilippines to the capture of Ute Indians on Little Power River, Montana, 1906. He served with distinction in WWI, and later he was the Commander of the 9th Army Corp., Ft. Lewis, WA. He was one of the most well known officers in the United States military, and his funeral was attended by President and Mrs. Eisenhower in 1960. There also seems to be a close connection between Patton and Ernest Hemmingway to this career officer,

The markings are sharp, the edges are crisp, theengraving is well defined and probably by Helfricht. The medallion pearl grips are very good+ and are quite thick and show a nice toning. Colt Single Action Army revolver, .44-40 cal., 4-3/4" barrel, blue and case hardened finish, hard rubber grips, shipped July 17, 1915 to Winchester Repeating Arms Co., New Haven, CT, sold to Charles Ilfeld,Albuquerque, Las Vegas, New Mexico, with all features verified by factory in phone call. The shipment from Colt to Winchester indicated it was probably shipped with a Winchester rifle to Ilfeld. The pistolretains 20-40% evenly drifting and toning blue and case hardened finish, some minor erosion and pinprick pitting; generally good edges, sharp markings and fairly crisp overall. The grips are good and fit well;the front sight has been trimmed slightly at the front edge. Action good, bore bright. Winchester Model 12, 12 gauge factory skeet gun, fully and finely engraved and gold inlaid by master European engraver Bruehl, serial #1435183. The gun shows a 26" barrel choked WS1 for skeet with factory vent ribshowing spoon back and properly placed PW proof. The gun is finely stocked in highest quality deluxe burl walnut with fancy and elaborate checkering. The left side of the frame is engraved with a gold dog flushingbirds, surrounded by deep cut oak leaf scrolls. The right side shows fox flushing birds also surrounded by similar oak leaf scrolls. The barrel and magazine tube show a rich blue finish and the frame shows a matgray or satin gray European type finish. Approximately 95% of this restored finish remains which was applied at time of engraving. The stocks are fine to near excellent and show a beautiful and ornatepistol grip cap. This European flintlock is in overall good to very good condition showing an even grey patina on metal surfaces withsome scattered spots of erosion, lockplate is marked “Martinoni”, crisp action, dark bore, horn tipped wood ramrod, attractive mountings, wood stock is overall good with some old repairs to the left front portion of the stock at the muzzle; some portions of the wire inlay missing. 18th century flintlock horseman's size pistol with finely chiseled lock barrel and mounts, circa about 1725-1760, 22" overall, with 14-7/8" barrel, approximately .65 cal. smooth bore. The quality of the chiseling is goodand the pistol has no identifying marks; could be made anywhere from Italy to the Baltics or Greece, and even possibly Turkish. The side plate is nicely pierced and chiseled with scrolls and what appears to bea decorated shield. The mounts are carved in florals, and intertwining triangular shapes with a couple of masked type decorations. There is some chiseling on the barrel also that may be a rider on a horse with somewhatmore wear to the barrel. The metal surfaces show a dark patina, no cleaning, crisp chiseling, some slight scattered light to moderate erosion and pitting. The original top jaw screw and small parts are retained,the frizzen has been grooved as was the custom for arms being exported to the mid-east. The stock is good, with some small losses, normal aging, minor imperfections. The ramrod is a crude replacement. An

Spanish Catalan style dagger with beautifully carved ivory grip circa 17th to 18th century; the blade measures 8-1/2", 13-3/8" overall; the blade shows good quality forging, some natural aging, pitting, slightsharpening at the edge. The ivory grip shows archaic style carving with a nude Adam and Eve and the Deity in the Garden of Eden surrounded by finely cut scrolls and distinctly portraying the apple hanging fromthe tree of temptation. The grip is good to very good with some minor age cracks, wear, and a lovely patina. The grip shows a silver cap between the carving and the blade, and a German silver pommel cap which may have been engraved at one time, as it appears to have been polished. The carving is very reminiscent of Wheelock Powder Flasks, circa 1600-1680. Est.: $1,500-$3,000

Armoral dagger of large size possibly reduced from sword, measuring 21" overall with 16" blade. The blade shows a armorer's type stamp of an acorn; type usually associated with German arms from Nurenburg. The blade,guard and pommel show hand forging and are genuine to the period. The pommel nut has been repositioned long ago, probably when the handle was rewrapped in the 19th to early 20th century. The metal surfaces show lightto slightly heavy pitting and opening to the forged steel showing grain. A very acceptable dagger that deserves a better restoration to the wrap of grip. The pistol shows a Parkerized finish of which 95-98% remains, some losses at high points and edges and some darkening. Military style Cadet's flintlock musket, signed "Vallie Philadelphia" on lock, fancy birdseye and striped dark maple stock, circa about 1815-1835. Vallie is a well known Philadelphia gunsmith, who made a widevariety of arms including dueling pistols. Although known he was not very prolific as weapons with his name on them are seldom encountered. The gun measures 39-1/4" overall, 27" barrel, approximately .60 cal.smooth, the lock measures 3-5/8" from tip to tip across the center. There is a small stamping at the breech which appears to read 11K. The metal surfaces are in good to very good condition showing most of their original bright finish, just aging slightly with some light beginning erosion and pinprick pitting; the lock retains all its original small parts with small screwed-in brass pan and crisply signed lockplate. The stock iswell made and in very good condition, and appears to be a stained maple with birdseye and flared grain. Very scarce Johnson & Bye prototype air pistol, manufactured by Quackenbush, circa about 1834, 10" barrel, serial #18, predecessor to the Champion. The metal surfaces are fair to good with scatteredlight to moderate erosion; the top of the frame is stamped "Dumonthier", who were well known dealers and manufacturers in Europe. The grips show a break in repair. The pistol is not working as the gaskets havegotten weak and need replacing, but the parts are complete and restorable. Fox Sterlingworth 12ga double-barrel shotgun, 30” barrels, in good to very good condition, serial number “106370”. The gun shows approx. 80-90% thinning original blue on barrel, some light erosion just starting,minor surface rust, but generally very good. Frame shows 60-70% case hardening, trigger guard shows 80% original blue. The forend is a replacement, the buttstock has had the checkering refreshed. The buttstock alsoshows loss and removal of finish, and the addition of a hard rubber recoil pad. Wood fair only, action good, interior good. Est.: $600-$1,200.

Ithaca model 4E 12ga single barrel trap shotgun, factory 34” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, serial number 306164T. The remains in good original condition showing approx. 30-50% original blue on barrel withsome cleaning, toning, and drifting to patina, and some just starting erosion and pinprick pitting. The frame is nicely engraved and shows a trap shooter on left, and American eagle with arrows on right. Theframe shows 10-30% evenly drifting and toning case hardening going to silver. The trigger guard and collar have retained most of their original blue. The stocks are good one or two small losses at the edges, some scratches,light cleaning, and approx. 30% original varnish remains. The stock measures approx. 13-1/2” from the trigger to the end of the wood, and has been slightly reduced with a poorly fit undersized recoil pad added. Theaction is good, the bore very good. Would improve considerably with a proper butt pad. Est.: $900-$1800.

American Indian catlinite or pipestone smoking pipe, with 2-color pewter inlaid bowl and associated carved and pierced wood shaft. The pipe measures 8" in length, the bowl measures nearly 5" from top to back.The pipe shows some small dings, mars and losses, all of the pewter is intact; the condition is good and the bowl shows smoking. The shaft measures 23-1/2" by 2", is nicely carved and pierced with most of its original paint. The shaft is slightly small for the pipe and may be worn or associated for display. In any case, a great looking pipe and shaft which are both Indian made and date to the 19th century, probably from the Great Lakes area. Est.: $1,000-$2,000

Original charcoal and pencil sketch on paper entitled "The Squaw Man", signed lower left "Lavallie-05", in its original to-the-period wood frame showing forged iron link decoration attached to the frame. The novel"Squaw Man" was published at about this era and was a very popular book concerning the western frontier. The artwork shows a frontiersman armed with double barrel shotgun in western dress and buckskins withcartridge belt, bandana and western hat and spurs. The title is on a fixed brass plaque of same era. The artwork measures 24" by 18-1/2", the frame measures 31" by 25-1/2"; the condition is good with some smallburning, spotting, normal age and discoloration. The frame is good. Italian Schiavona basket hilt sword with forged iron guard, armorer's marked blade, brass pommel, circa 1660-1725. The sword measures 43" overall with 37" blade that measures approximately 1" wide at the hiltand tapers to its end, and appears to be its original length with tip just reduced minutely. The guard is nicely formed and forged, well made; the blade has a good temper, the wire wrap is good, the pommel nut shows no evidence of being disturbed and the attachment that holds the hilt to the pommel is lost as usual. There is some light to moderate scattered pitting and erosion, and there is a faint marking of wolf on blade(Soligen?). Note: There is a period engraved signature on hilt "M:C". Est.: $1,250-$2,500

Italian Schiavona basket hilt broadsword circa 1660-1725, measuring 39-7/8" overall with 1-1/2" wide blade showing deep blood grooves that extend 27" down blade. The blade shows light old engraving which mayhave been an armorer's type mark. The grip is a very old replacement as the pommel nut shows a deep patina. The blade is well forged and shows light to heavy pitting; the hilt is nicely made and shows qualityforging. Greener patent percussion whaling gun with original harpoon, approximately .60 cal. smooth bore, of heavy weight, with 20-1/2" barrel, 36" overall; barrel and frame are browned steel with naval brass guardextending up into the frame to where the hammer is screwed into this casting, serial #23791; unmarked but definitely English made, and Greener patent with British proof and numbered 20 at the breech. The metalsurfaces retain 60-80% original brown, some spotting, erosion and light rust. The stock shows a good burl wood grain and is in good to very good condition, with remnants of old hard rubber pad. An original harpoon withhinged flanges is retained, also the harpoon shows its original steel cable and ring. An early whaling collectible which are almost never found with their harpoons. Colt New Line .30 cal. single action Pocket revolver, nickel plated, ivory grips, serial # 8753. The Colt shows 85-95% original nickel, with full etched panel on left side of barrel that is just slightly going light. There is some light cleaning where the nickel has lifted; the back of the hammer shows most of its bright original blue, as do the small parts and screws. The revolver remains in near fine original condition showing 75-85% original blue finish that is toned, with sharp markings, crispedges and near fine grips. The blade measures2-1/2" across the cutting edge, themetal work is good showing quality forging, good shaping and grooved designs. The hardwood shaft appears original to the head, is carved by hand with correct off-center drill holes, shows a good patina. Colt 1851 Navy revolver, .36 cal. percussion, force screw, cut for shoulder stock, serial #128165, with S marking on frame and backstrap indicating supplied with shoulder stock. A scarce variation of which 800-1,000 were estimated to have been produced with the brass guard. The pistol shows an old re-blued and re-nickel finish with original wood grips. All matching visible serial numbers, except ramrod which is numbered2769. The cylinder shows 30-50% scene, the pistol shows some rust and pitting since its refinish; the grips are replacements and do not fit well. The barrel address is good, the edges still fairly crisp, the action isgood. Unfortunately, many old time collectors refinished their Colts. Est.: $600-$1,200

1836 Model U. S. Martial Flintlock pistol converted to percussion and dated 1842, .54 cal., with all features as standard on this issue. The pistol remains in good to very good condition showing a gray-brown patinafinish, scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting, good markings; stock good to very good with two cartouches, some minor dings, mars and scratches. The action is good, and generally very good overall.The lock plate shows a brass insert where a flintlock portion was removed and nipple screwed directly into the breech in arsenal manner. Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver, .36 cal. percussion, old replated full silver finish, wood grips; late Third Model with capping groove cut into right side of frame, serial #198738. The revolver shows a thick oldsilver plate with good visible address, traces of scene; the grips are good, all matching visible serial numbers; cylinder shows a deep scratch at the front and there is a blade and post period front sight. Theaction and triggers have been rusted after the plating and need disassembly and cleaning to make it work. Between the turn of the century and the 1940s, some gun collectors plated their antique guns to preserve themwhich was a bad idea, and one collector named Eisner plated several hundred guns in his collection, which were displayed at Disneyland and the St. Louis Museum. The revolver shows 95%+ original blue with just some slight losses at the high points andsome very minor scratches. The hammer and trigger show most of their case hardening, the grips are excellent; there is a slight index line on the cylinder, the action is crisp, the bore excellent. The box is invery good condition, shows instructions, labels, minor tatters; the end label reads "nickel" and was probably a dealer's switch as there is no number on the box. U. S. Naval officers sword, circa 1880-1910, in very good condition with original scabbard, back of throat is inscribed in large block letters "ABC", belonging to A. B. Canaga, father of Bruce Canaga, 1905 NavalAcademy graduate whose sword is sold at Lot #15 of this auction. These two swords were collected by David Tate from family members in Texas and no documentation is available other than consigner's notes attesting totheir being owned by father and son named Canaga, who both served in the Navy. This sword shows a near mint nickel plated blade with no makers mark; the mounts are engraved with oak leaves, and the hangers show raisedrelief engraved brass fittings simulating intertwined naval ropes. The drag shows a dolphin, the grip is sharkskin and of standard naval pattern. The leather scabbard shows a few minor nicks, condition is goodto very good overall. Est.: $350-$700

Pair of diamond checkered wood grips with deep set Colt medallions facing same direction in the style of Roper. The grips are in very good to near fine condition and are excellent, almost imperceptible copies of Roper grips. There are a few tiny mistakes, and these grips would fool almost any collector. Interesting holster, belt and buckle rig; the buckle reads Artic Brotherhood Skagway. The inner portion of the buckle shows mountains in the sunset. The thin cartridge belt is for large caliber cartridges; the holster ismarked Brauer Brothers, St. Louis, is nicely carved and a single action has been in it, however it is for a double action with a 4-1/2 to 5" barrel. Two antique holsters for Colt Single Action Army revolvers with 7-1/2" barrels. The first is an unmarked flap style, circa about 1870s to early 80s, shows catalog #4756, and 44 and 6 markings on rear. The stud or postfor attaching flap is missing, and there is an extra hole in the flap. Condition is fair to good. The second holster is a slim jim style fitted holster for 7-1/2" Colt, hardware or catalog style, thin embossedleather, loop for belt replaced during period of use using cartridge case heads for studs, seam re-sewn long ago, condition fair to good. Number 1 is US marked for 7-1/2" single action showing 2 positions for flap, 6 brass rivets on belt loop, no markings visible, fair condition only with somecracking, aging, etc. The second is a flap holster for 1860 Army, tab and belt loop retained, plug intact, fair to good with cracking, small losses, normal aging. The third is marked Moose Brand on flap andleather goods, fits 1878 single action with 5-1/2" barrel well, or Colt single action, the reverse is stamped Cavalry, US #26, shows plug in bottom, late 19th early 20th century, large belt look secured by 3 brassrivets with small lanyard loop and plug.
