Toulouse-Lautrec Ltd Art Print At The Moulin Rouge II
Artist: Henri de Toulouse-LautrecTitle: "At The Moulin Rouge II "Edition: LimitedMedium: Giclee on paperSize: 22" x 17-1/2" (approximate)Condition: ExcellentBiography: * Toulouse-Lautrec, Henri de (1864-1901). Many immortal painters lived and worked in Paris during the late 19th century. They included Degas, Cezanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Seurat, Renoir and Toulouse-Lautrec. Toulouse-Lautrec observed and captured in his art the Parisian nightlife of the period. * Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was born on Nov. 24, 1864, in Albi, France. He was an aristocrat, the son and heir of Comte Alphonse-Charles de Toulouse and last in line of a family that dated back a thousand years. Henri's father was rich, handsome, and eccentric. His mother was overly devoted to her only living child. Henri was weak and often sick. By the time he was 10 he had begun to draw and paint. * He stayed in the Montmartre section of Paris, the center of the cabaret entertainment and bohemian life that he loved to paint. Circuses, dance halls and nightclubs, racetracks--all these spectacles were set down on canvas or made into lithographs. * Toulouse-Lautrec was very much a part of all this activity. He would sit at a crowded nightclub table, laughing and drinking, and at the same time he would make swift sketches. The next morning in his studio he would expand the sketches into bright-colored paintings. * In order to become a part of the Montmartre life--as well as to protect himself against the crowd's ridicule of his appearance--Toulouse-Lautrec began to drink heavily. In the 1890s the drinking started to affect his health. He was confined to a sanatorium and to his mother's care at home, but he could not stay away from alcohol. Toulouse-Lautrec died on Sept. 9, 1901, at the family chateau of Malrome. Since then his paintings and posters--particularly the Moulin Rouge group--have been in great demand and bring high prices at auctions and art sales. *

Ira Moskowitz Signed Art Print Flowers Still Life
Artist: Ira Moskowitz Signature: Signed by the artist in pencil, lower rightMedium: Lithograph on paperEdition: Limited, numbered out of 75Size: 30" x 21" Condition: ExcellentBiography: * Ira Moskowitz, (1912 - 2001) descendant of a long rabbinical line, was born in Poland and went with his family to Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1914. The family remained there until 1927, and young Moskowitz received his first education in Prague's schools. Soon after, his family moved to New York City, and in 1927 Moskowitz became the pupil of Henry Wickey at the Art Students League, having finally resolved his conflict between a passion for drawing and a desire to follow the rabbinical profession of his forefathers. Between 1935 and 1938, he traveled to Israel and to Europe where he studied the works of the old masters, an interest derived from his first teacher and one that eventually led to his active collaboration in 1954 on the four-volume series, "Great Drawings of All Time." * In 1939, Moskowitz made his first trip to Mexico, and stayed for six months. In 1943 he received a Guggenheim Fellowship and moved to New Mexico, where he remained for seven years drawing the Indians and becoming an active member of the Taos-Sante Fe artists group. His book, "Patterns and Ceremonials of the Indians of the Southwest," appeared in 1949. Since 1962, Moskowitz has divided his time between Paris and New York. He is a superb draughtsman in the old tradition, drawing with a quick, nervous, but incisive line that is extremely lively and full of movement. His subject matter takes its shape from the life that he sees around him-natural forms, the human figure, landscapes, and people at their daily tasks. *

Max Papart Signed Aquatint Art Print 3
Artist: Max PapartSignature: Signed by the artistTitle: 3Medium: Aquatint on Hand Made PaperEdition: Limited, numberedSize: 21" x 38.5" Condition: ExcellentBiography: * Papart (1911-1994), who was born in Marseilles, began his career as a landscape painter. His work evolved into abstraction, and he gained a reputation as the heir to classic cubism. Through the years he has developed spiritual affinities with other styles and schools. Elements of Etruscan, archaic European, African, and pre-Columbian art have influenced his work, leading to his present semi-figurative style. In Papart's art, composition goes hand in hand with color, each strengthening the other. He feels that "color is intuitive." His etchings are noted for contrast in surface textures, achieved with aquatint for a soft, mottled appearance and with carborundum, a technique that results in deep veining reminiscent of stone. Papart has received a number of awards for printmaking. His work is found in many collections, including those of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Musee d'Art Moderne, Paris, the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, and Yale University, New Haven . *

Ira Moskowitz Signed Jucdaic Art Print Psalm of Psalms
Artist: Ira Moskowitz Signature: Signed by the artist in pencil, lower rightTitle: Psalm of PsalmsMedium: Lithograph on paperEdition: Limited, numbered out of 300Size: 30" x 21" Condition: ExcellentBiography: * Ira Moskowitz, (1912 - 2001) descendant of a long rabbinical line, was born in Poland and went with his family to Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1914. *

Salvador Dali Posthumous Etching Portrait of Chagall
Artist: Salvador Dali (posthumous rendition of)Title: Portrait of ChagallMedium: Posthumous EtchingSize: 13 x 10 inches Condition: ExcellentBiography: * Salvador Dali was born in 1904 in Figueras, Spain. He was the third Salvador Dali, for his father was named Salvador and so was his older brother who had died 9 months before Dali was born. Because of the coincidental dates that marked the death of one child and the birth of the next falling on the same date, his parents believed that their second son was actually a reincarnation of the first. Due to this, the "ghostly" memory of his lost sibling was to haunt him for the rest of his life. Dali took on a unique and conspicuous personality. He felt as though he was forced to live both as himself and his dead brother, which caused him to have a particular obsession with decay and petrification. In 1922 Dali was accepted into a special school for painting, sculpture, and engraving known as the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid. He exhibits his paintings in a student art show at the Dalmau gallery in Barcelona. A year later, Dali was suspended from the academy for criticizing his lecturers and inciting a student rebellion. At the age of 18, Dali had become a member of the young elite, an emerging group of intellectuals. In 1923, Dali first started to experiment with cubism. He became a leader of an avant-garde group of young Spanish intellectuals. He has his first one man show in the same year at the Dalmau Gallery. In 1926 Dali takes his first trip to Brussels and Paris where he visits Picasso and Miro. He also has his second one man show at the Dalamu Gallery and is expelled from the San Fernando Academy due to his refusal to take the oral exams. He felt that he knew more than his examiners on the subject of Raphael. Far from discouraged, Dali was determined to be one of the greatest painters of all time. In 1928 Dali does theater designs for Mariana Pineda and he works regularly with the journal, L'Aime de les Arts. Miro visits Dali and encourages him to establish himself in Paris. Shortly after, Dali takes his second trip to Paris and Miro introduces him to the Dadaists and Surrealists groups. In 1929 he meets his future wife, Gala Eluard in Cadaques. This same year he has his first one man show in Paris at Goeman's Gallery. Dali embraced the ideas of surrealism but in a way unique to him. In the early 1930's Dali expands on his paranoiac critical process of thought and in 1933 the Julian Levey Gallery organizes Dali's first one-man show in the United States, in New York. *

Max Papart Signed Embossed Lithograph Art Print 4
Artist: Max PapartSignature: Signed by the artistTitle: 4Medium: Lithograph with Embossing on Japon PaperEdition: Limited, numberedSize: 18.5" x 23" Condition: ExcellentBiography: * Papart (1911-1994), who was born in Marseilles, began his career as a landscape painter. *

In 1960 he entered Milan s Academy of Brera where he perfected his talent for painting nudes. In the two years he studied at the Academy, he came under the influence of the Pre-Raphaelites and Macchiaioli. From 1960 to 1979, his work appeared in several major exhibitions throughout Italy and Europe. He was also commissioned by Italy s two largest publisher s, Mondadori and Rizzoli, for book illustrations. However, he felt restricted in Milan. He wanted more artistic freedom, which he believed he could find in the United States. * After knocking on many doors, in February of 1980, Zebra Books Publishers promised him a job, commissioning him to do a book cover. His interpretation was new, fresh and sensual. Stylistically, he brought the characters into the foreground where his technique and talent for painting the anatomy was celebrated. His illustrations were so successful that he gained entr e into creative relationships with many leading publishers of romance novels. His popularity grew within the literary community and he became the artist-in-demand for Zebra, Bantam, Simon and Schuster, Harlequin, Penguin USA and Dell. From 1980 to 1993 he dedicated himself totally to this art where his style dominated and influenced the market. His illustrations combined elements fresh from Europe with a powerful sensuality, bringing this medium to new heights. * Reminiscent of his childhood environment, Pino s paintings are generally set in coastal, sunny, and vibrantly floral places. He uses a colorful pallet to create tender pleasurable feelings. His fine art is rich with sensuality, rousing the memory through all the senses. Pino s paintings resurrect in us the incidents of those simple, priceless moments we have stored in our memories and have so frequently forgotten. *

Toulouse-Lautrec Ltd Art Print At The Moulin Rouge
Artist: Henri de Toulouse-LautrecTitle: "At The Moulin Rouge"Edition: LimitedMedium: Giclee on paperSize: 22" x 17-1/2" (approximate)Condition: ExcellentBiography: * Toulouse-Lautrec, Henri de (1864-1901). *

Max Papart Signed Etching Art Print 5
Artist: Max PapartSignature: Signed by the artistTitle: 5Medium: Etching on Japon and Arches PaperEdition: Limited, numberedSize: 13" x 27.5" Condition: ExcellentBiography: * Papart (1911-1994), who was born in Marseilles, began his career as a landscape painter. *

Artist: Ira Moskowitz Signature: Signed by the artist in pencil, lower rightTitle: NeptuneMedium: Lithograph on paperEdition: Limited, numbered out of 100Size: 30" x 21" Condition: ExcellentBiography: * Ira Moskowitz, (1912 - 2001) descendant of a long rabbinical line, was born in Poland and went with his family to Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1914. *

The resulting publication, 32 Painting Lessons in Oil, is a widely popular text and carried in bookstores worldwide. A romantic impressionist, Bodo's work in landscapes and his magnificent florals are full of energy, reminiscent of those artists who revolutionized the Paris art world a century ago. Pino Signed Art Print on Canvas Flamenco In Red
Artist: PinoSignature: Signed by the artistTitle: "Flamenco In Red"Edition: NumberedMedium: Giclee on CanvasSize: 46" x 36" Condition: ExcellentBiography: * Pino, born Guiseppe Dangelico in Bari on November 8, 1939, began his studies at the city s Art Institute. *

Toulouse-Lautrec observed and captured in his art the Parisian nightlife of the period. * * * Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was born on Nov. * * * * He stayed in the Montmartre section of Paris, the center of the cabaret entertainment and bohemian life that he loved to paint. Circuses, dance halls and nightclubs, racetracks--all these spectacles were set down on canvas or made into lithographs. * * * Toulouse-Lautrec was very much a part of all this activity. He would sit at a crowded nightclub table, laughing and drinking, and at the same time he would make swift sketches. The next morning in his studio he would expand the sketches into bright-colored paintings. * * * In order to become a part of the Montmartre life--as well as to protect himself against the crowd's ridicule of his appearance--Toulouse-Lautrec began to drink heavily.

Moskowitz Signed Lithograph David & Bathsheba
Artist: Ira Moskowitz Signature: Signed by the artistTitle: David & BathshebaMedium: Lithograph on Arches Paper Edition: Limited, numberedSize: 30" x 21" Condition: ExcellentBiography: * Ira Moskowitz, descendant of a long rabbinical line, was born in Poland and went with his family to Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1914. *
