Three (3) complete circa 1850s gold scale sets in decorative tin cases: a) “Miners Improved Gold Scale – manufactured expressely for California”, red original paint with large eagle in center. 7” x 3 1/2” x 1 1/4”, some small rust spotting and use scrapes but bright and strong graphics; b) Leaf and flower edges with central eagle graphic on orange tin. 6” x 3” x 1 1/4”, some denting and use scratches; c) Green tin “Miners Improved Gold Scale – manufactured expressely for California”, graphics hard to see, some gold lettering remains.

Unmarked two-tone goose with finely turned uprights and finial. 23” tall overall with a stepped 15 1/2” diameter base. Nickel accents and spring release. circa 1890s. Comes with hardwood ball board, 13 1/4” x 8 1/2”.

Book/Gun case is “Gamblers Choice or One Ace Down in the Hole” on cover; Spine has “Gamblers Choice Fast Death”. Case holds the Deringer and four .41 RF cartridges. Serial #5919, buffed and gold washed. The trigger spring is broken. Book is 6” x 4” x 1 3/4”.

Constructed as a miniature S-curve roll top desk. 10” tall, 11” wide and 9” deep. Amazing attention to detail, roll the top up and expose the lift out fitted rack holding 250 chips in stacks of 25. The 2, hinged front doors are card holders. The chips included are composition with fleur-de-lis inlay, in red, white, blue and yellow.

Well marked “Mason & Co. - Makers - 84 Dearborn Street - Chicago”. Fine condition with some storage scratches, cards are excellent with one stain on edge. Nickel faro box is marked with Mason mark inside, surface scratches, works well, strong springs.

“The Geo. Mason Co. Makers. Denver. Colo. marked 32” double O wheel. This wheel was made for table top use and not to be inserted into a table. Nickel maker-marked spindle. Circa, beginning of 20th century. Condition is fine with bright colors. 90% nickel remaining, old gold repaint, some cracking to outside of case.

.41 cal, rare “D. Moore” patent date barrel marking, 15% silver remaining on the frame. Serial #393.

Serial #s 2010 & 2341, both with 90% silver on barrels, 1st with 30% finish on frame and bobbed short hammer the other with 40% frame finish and no loading notch, VG bore.

a) Standard, .41 cal. Serial #5899, 20% silver on frame, barrel smooth gray, strong bore; b) Short 1 1/4” barrel with what appears to be factory correct crown and sight, no loading notch, barrel has scattered pitting, smooth mustard colored frame, bore not much more than caliber. Serial #216.

British proofed, as most center fires were, shipped to London. Iron frame is marked correctly for the rare caliber. Smooth surfaces have turned plum, excellent checkered wood grips. Serial #8006.

Early style with raised area around barrel screw and tiny Colt stamping. High hammer, finely pitted bore, gray iron barrel, smooth mustard colored frame with touches of silver remaining, and some blue on hammer, trigger and barrel screw. Smooth walnut grips.

.41 cal RF, Serial #5833, no loading notch, factory floral engraving extends to the barrel. 95% silver wash on frame and barrel, card suits engraved on the backstrap. Ivory grips with raised carved spade show age and fit well, no numbers on the grips. VG bore.

.41 caliber RF, first type, later production. High hammer, raised area around barrel screw, but large Colt barrel marking. Barrel has smooth plum color, frame is smooth mustard with traces of silver, walnut grips are numbered to the pistol.

Grips show wear with crack from screw escutcheon to top of grip. .41 RF; b) Standard model, 90% nickel remaining overall, missing only at the muzzle. Hammer and trigger have 60% blue fading, touches of blue on the screw heads. Right side of frame marked “Watson & Hancock, London”, British proof marks, italic Colt on barrel rolled high. Serial #42926; b) .41 RF , marked on frame, 60% nickel on barrel, 90% on the frame. Trigger, hammer, and screw faded to plum. Grips are cleaned and refinished and are numbered to the gun. Serial #43401.

Both .41 RF with rough bores, mottled gray barrels, mustard colored frames with touches of silver: a) Serial #43966, grips show “use” dings; b) Serial #33676, RF marked on frame, small Rampant Colt & letter C on left of frame. Smooth walnut grips.

All original, 6 1/2” blue, with 1 piece grips. Serial #5164. Overall smooth brown / plum with perfect patina on the brass. Marks are sharp and clear. Type 2 is the non-fluted style, the frame is Type B with the ‘71 & ‘73 patent dates. Technically not a conversion but a manufactured revolver.

Second model single action in .44 Winchester. Serial #4201. Indian head motif, chiseled in high relief leaf and vine pattern. A matching fitted 7” barrel and cylinder (serial #23473) makes a unique set. Excellent bird’s-head grips, bore is rough.

Double Deringer A.K.A. Model 95 or Over Under Deringer. Type III, Model #4. Nice rosewood grips, 70% bright blue on frame (backstrap flaked) and 80% on barrels. Lever and thumb piece has bright blue remaining. Sharp clear marks, overall 75%. .41 rimfire caliber. Probably the best known of all Deringer designs.

.44-40 caliber, barrel cut to 5 1/2”, 90% nickel finish remaining overall. 44 stamp on left side of trigger guard, very good walnut grips. Folded and tucked under the grips between the mainspring and frame is a business card of L.M. Cleer, Vice President and manager of the Kelso branch of Seattle 1st National Bank. Written on the back is “used by Wells Fargo Express in Kelso Washington, purchased by L.M. Cleer when he opened the Cowlitz Valley Bank”.

.31 cal, serial #133614 with 4” barrel. Mottled silver/gray, 30% cylinder scene, traces of silver/casecolor on frame, 1 piece walnut grips have a coat of varnish, 80% silver on the backstrap and trigger guard. U.S. stamp on the frame, bore is dark.

The “Yellow Boy” in the musket configuration. Serial #94447 F S, standard 27” barrel. Some color remains but late cleaning has taken most of the patina. Stock and frame both show heavy use. A dark splatter pattern on the bottom of the brass.

Pocket Army, 3rd Model, single action 44-40 revolver with contemporary engraving. Highly decorated with scroll leaf design. Heavily polished with only mark remaining being the serial number on lanyard drop, 3813.

Dug up 7 1/2” revolver, a total relic, no grips and locked cylinder. Most likely an early Mexican find.

J.D. O’Brien’s Deputy Sheriff Teller Co. Colo. badge. 1 3/4” coin silver circular badge with central cut-out 5 point star. Handmade with enameled lettering and engraved burst in star. Simple pin back.

Early 6-point star with ball ends. Scarce silver plated copper with classic lettering. Replaced safety pin back. ”Hall” scratched in reverse. 2 1/2” across to points.

Solid gold, engraved and enameled 5-point star. Finely scrolled front with “R.M. Calahan – 1898” inscribed on reverse. T pin back, 2 1/8” across.

14K rose gold badge, circa 1882, belonging to City Marshal John “Jack” Gillan. This badge was presented to Gillan by six officers, F. Howard, John Hildreth, E.L. Young, James Canning, W. Bemis and Geo. Herold, whose names are engraved on the outer circle of the badge. Central cut-out 5-point star, 1 7/8” dia. T bar back. Marshal Gillan died in 1917. Presentation gold badge to Capt. Frank Johnson. 2” x 2” Front engraved “Capt. Frank Johnson – Texas Ranger Force” Reverse “Presented by T. Criscell - 1909 – Brownsville, Texas” From the book, “Texas Ranger Tales” by Mike Cox: “In 1909 someone presented Captain Frank Johnson with the most ornamental of the known Ranger badges. It is a star-in-a-wheel. At the top of the wheel is “Capt. Frank Johnson.” Beneath are the words “Texas Ranger Force” Frank Johnson was elected Sheriff of Mitchell County, Texas November 8, 1904 and reelected on November 8, 1904 and November 6th 1906. He served until July 1907. Mitchell County was created from Bexar County in 1876. “ Shown in photos of Rangers at Harlingen in 1904 as a member of Company “A” As a Texas Ranger, Johnson was Captain of Company “A” and worked out of Colorado City, Texas from January 1907 to August 1910. He had a storied career and is mentioned in several books on the Rangers, and in numerous news articles. Signature of Emmett on title page from book, “When the Daltons Rode”, by Emmett; matted with printed photograph. Emmett Dalton (May 3, 1871 – July 13, 1937) was an American outlaw, train robber and member of the Dalton Gang in the American Old West. Part of the ill-fated Dalton raid on two banks in Coffeyville, Kansas, he survived despite receiving 23 gunshot wounds. After serving 14 years in prison for the crime, Dalton capitalized on his notoriety, authoring books and becoming an actor in Hollywood.

Two famous westerners on the same clip of paper. Later signature of Masterson and Jennings on book page liberated from the binding. Matted with pages showing Jennings and Bat. Provenance: Note from Mr. Carl W. Breihan who obtained this book from Al Jennings.

c.1882. Original document authorizing prospector and “special officer and detective” William R. Rexford to arrest a murderer in Lincoln County, New Mexico. Signed and dated one year and ten days after Garrett gained fame for shooting Billy the Kid. The warrant reads, in part, “I hereby certify that I served within writ by sending the same to the within named Ed L. House in the town of Socorro, Territory of New Mexico on the 24th day of July, A.D. 1882. Pat F. Garrett / Sheriff / of Lincoln County”. Verso is the signed warrant for House by the Lincoln County Justice of the Peace, Frank H. Sea, dated July 22, A.D. 1882. Condition: folded, some minor staining, but overall fine. Silver overlaid fancy California style spurs with tooled and laced two-tone leathers plus Santa Barbara style spade bit on tooled leather headstall. Spurs are 3 1/2” front to back, overall with the straps they are 5 1/4”. They have 1 3/8” shanks with 1 1/8” 14 point rowels, the bit is 4” from top to bottom and the bridle cheeks are 1/2” wide.

Engraved with deep relief forms, astrology designs, crescent moons, stars, and clouds. Shanks in the form of a Greek Lyre holding a 2 1/4”, 21 point rowel. Maker - Bliss / 300 / Cortez Colo / Handmade U.S.A. Marked inside, as new condition.

1 1/8” bands with 2 1/2” shank, swinging buttons and 2”, 8 point rowels. Marked inside band R. F. Ford San Angelo Tx. No. 1271. 98% of the original brown remains, and spurs appear to be unused.

Massive impressive spurs with half mountings on engraved iron, half moon style shanks, stylized bands with silver studs, Kelly Bros. type staple swingers. Fluid design with sweeping shapes and clean edges. 1 1/4” to 1 1/2” bands, 2 5/8” shanks, 2 3/8” rowels. Andrus marked straps with high relief longhorn conchos.

Modern representation of the Robert McChesney peacock pattern number 34. Full mounted with jewels on feather tips. Bob Anderson straps with Campbell buckles and very fine basketstamping. Spurs marked Campbell 3456 and Bit 3458. Custom display stand included.

Heavy 1 1/4” bands with high relief longhorn mountings on one side and copper spread eagles on other. Sharp crooked shanks with fancy stepped and chased rowels. Large and impressive Crockett style ladies leg spurs by the renowned Colorado maker featuring 7/8” bands, 3 1/4” long shanks, rowelled chap guard, extra large “James Mower” 3” rowel with 32 points, 2- tone, brass and silver mountings. Huge 1 3/8” spur strap buttons, Buddie Foster straps with Adamson marked buckles. Includes letter from Bill Adamson to James Mower dated 2005.

Classic Wyoming spurs with exaggerated split Cheyenne heelband, 1 3/4”, 16 point rowels on 2 1/2” shanks, 5/8” wide inlaid bands. Early plains style basketstamped straps, circa 1915. Excellent condition.

One of the most famous of the sought-after Hulbert spurs. Inlaid on one side “Valley Ranch” and the other “MEP”. The Valley brand, “Lazy JD” on strap button. 15/16” band, 2” inlaid shank, 1 3/4”, 7 pt star rowels. Original tooled leather straps. The Valley Ranch has a long and storied Cody, Wyoming history.

Unmarked, covered with finely engraved conchos, added crescent moons, stars and diamonds. 16” covered swells, 15” padded seat, rounded skirts, tapaderos. Bit cheek has Texas star made of stainless steel, with silver overlay. Breast collar has matching moons and stars.

Ornate, decorative & very impressive sterling silver and gold full parade ensemble with matching Bridle and Martingale. The two-tone brown elegant floral tooling features a carved horse on the fender. The silver is heavy gauge with domed square and diamond conchos, silver cantle with rope edge, gullet and horn plus gold horseheads. The seat is partially quilted and there is the original, attached black and white wool corona.

Chimayo weaving, leather, studs, and native fir make this a classic Molesworth burl chair. Leather side panels. Slight sun fading but overall fine condition.

Lot of 2 fine western burl items. Floor lamp 5’ tall with later silhouette wildlife shade. Petite side table, 22” tall with 13” diameter round top, recessed for glass insert. Both are in excellent condition, the lamp has been rewired recently. We have found that the Lamp and Table in this lot where made by Paul Hindman, an employee of Thomas Molesworth. The shade was made by Russell Blood, who made items for both furniture makers. Paul & Don Hindman had worked for Molesworth from the time he started the company. Paul started “Wyoming Furniture Co.” in 1939.

Fine original burl chair with polychrome routed panels. Decorated with a Native American archer on each side panel, most likely the work of Russell Blood or Ed Grigware. Traditional flat paddle arms, Chimayo weavings, leather and native fir construction. The quintessential western chair. The original fabric and leather show common hard use for a favorite chair, circa 1930s.

The mate to the previous lot with routed Indian Lodges on each panel. Slightly different textile patterns and leather reinforced back cushion. The leather shows the everyday use and love of the most-used chair in the home, circa 1930s.

Serial #95819 is a 12 gauge DH hammerless, shipped directly to Annie Oakley’s husband Frank Butler c/o Buffalo Bill’s Wild West, Troy NY, May 26, 1900. The ledger records its specifications as: Length of Pull: 14 1/8”; Drop at Comb: 1 1/2”; Drop at Heel: 2 1/2”; and Weight: 7 pounds 8 ounces. The requested choke was for “RH - Cylinder & LH -Full”. The trigger pull was requested at RH - 3 1/2 & LH - 4 . Parker factory records show the shotgun returned for alteration in 1922 per a letter from Parker Bros., Meriden, Conn. dated Aug. of 1923 to a Mr. E. F. Wagner. The shotgun is 85-90% condition overall with bright blue and casecolor. The wood shows slight use marks, bores are bright and clean. Triggers are bright and sharp. Parker letter accompanies the lot.

Pair of letters relating to the Wild West: a) Early letter on scarce Buffalo Bill Wild West Co. letterhead, London, July 21st 1887. Cody writes attorney GE Mineard thanking him for his help. Signed for Cody by Director of the show and Bill’s business partner Nate Salsbury. Shown: Wojtowicz, page 138: b) Handwritten letter with gold corner logo, this type of letterhead was used between 1902 and 1908. This one, 1907 from Joe Bailey Harper, Treasurer for Buffalo Bill Wild West. According to Paul Fees, Harper started with the show in 1902 as a laborer and ticket clerk. By 1907, when he wrote this letter, he was treasurer for the Wild West. Possibly a letter to Harry Tipton, a cowboy with the Wild West.

Lot of 3 Cabinet Card images by the Brooklyn, New York photographer. His trademark “Wild West” cards with Cody in full performance dress. All standard 6 1/2” x 4 1/4” overall with 5 1/2” x 4” applied images and all 3 have the lithographed “Yours truly – W. F. Cody” signature on the reverse. The standing image of Cody has some soiling and damage to the bottom of the card, the side view image has slight foxing, and the front on image is near mint.

Signed letter to Irving R. Beacon dated March 27th, 1901 regarding the particulars that earned Cody the Medal of Honor. Typed letter is from Cody’s secretary L.E. Decker on traditional Buffalo Bill’s Wild West stationery. Important content.

A very unusual configuration of the Cody pistol bit by North & Judd. Cast iron with engraved solid nickel mountings. Iron shows heavy rust on outer edges, inside is clean and shows light use.

Handwritten letter in ink to Architect Mrs. A. W. Wood, dated July 7th, 1912, on gold embossed letterhead with original envelope. Signed, “Yours Truly W.F. Cody”.

2 Colorful Lithographs circa 1910 of Buffalo Bill Cody’s foray into the world of movie making with the Buffalo Bill – Pawnee Bill Film Co. There were 3 different one sheet posters made to advertise this film. These are each 27” x 41” and framed alike to 33” x 47”. They come with the original day sheet framed to match the pair.

Painted buffalo on cloth, stitched in center of blue flag. This parade flag was used in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West performances. Only two are known to still exist; the other is in the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming. This flag was given to A.C. Newton from Buffalo Bill in appreciation for housing show performers while in transit to the T.E. Ranch outside of Cody. Provenance: Butch Knuppenburg from Brownie Newton from A.C. Newton

Serial #79985, R. S. Lawrence Pat – April 12th 1859, C. Sharps Pat – Oct. 5th 1852, barrel marking, New Model 1863, 22” standard barrel. Heavy use, dents and wear on stock, with chip at top near barrel. Metal is a smooth brown with vise marks on rear of barrel.

Model 1888 .45-70 circa 1863-1888. Rifle with ramrod and bayonet combo approved by Teddy Roosevelt while he was Secretary of the Navy. All original and in very good condition. Serial #536936. Approximately 65,000 manufactured.

Model 1884 with original socket bayonet and leather sling. Block marked 1884, serial #471272. Leather frog with brass US in place on bayonet. 1889 inspectors cartouche of Samuel W. Porter appears on black walnut oil finished stock. All markings and edges clear and sharp. Company and rack numbers on buttstock.

Model 1873 serial #41254, unaltered condition. Well-used 45-70 cal., Morning Star style symbol stamped into the stock on the left side. This trapdoor carbine is one of several that fit into a serial number range that are known by collectors as the “Star” carbines. These weapons have been explored and many opinions have been published and discussed. The original article published in “Man at Arms Magazine” in August 1995 by Robert Smith was titled “Weapons with Spiritual Power” and documented Springfield and Sharps carbines with symbols applied by Native Americans for “Good Medicine.” The guns all fall into the general serial range of 35,000 to 43,000. Smith examined eight carbines that had the pressed-in symbol done with a similar, if not same exact implement. There is much speculation on this star, whether it is intended to be spiritual or medicine, and it appears to be on weapons that have at one time passed through Indian hands. The star is believed to be of Sioux or Cheyenne origin. It should also be noted that examinations of U.S. Army Ordinance records and regimental returns involved in confrontations with Indians, revealed that during the six-year period from January, 1874 to January, 1880, the only documented loss of early original, unaltered, high serial numbered carbines was at the Little Bighorn, June 26, 1876. A letter from Rudolf Krochmann states “All I know, for sure, is that there are approximately ten 1873 Springfield Carbines with a peculiar five pointed star mark on their butt-stock. All are unmodified first pattern ‘73s –All are in the Custer serial number range – All are high in the range – All are close together in the range (see how “tight” your serial number fits in the table on page 40 of the second article).” Articles, letter and magazine included.

Classic circa 1850 Dag, 11” x 2 1/4” Description from page 46 of Early Knives & Beaded Sheaths of the American Frontier, by John Baldwin, as follows: “I & H Sorby Dag, 11 x 2 1/4 IN. CIRCA 1850. (By Affidavits) A Newark, New Jersey, arms and antique dealer who focused on the purchase of wealthy estates, originally secured this dag from an old New Jersey family. The dag was collected with the family history documented with letters and verbal communication. This dag was retrieved from the Custer battlefield in the late 1800s by a member of the family who had been assigned military duty in that area. The oak handle, deteriorating, was tied back together and since has received wood preservatives. The blade is the typical I & H Sorby trade blade. The Oak handle whose wood probably came from an oak wagon board is Indian made in the northern tradition of a canoe paddle handle. This art feature occurred in the upper Great Lakes and West region. Imagine the mystique and intrigue surrounding this historically significant battlefield artifact.”

Serial #4549, in the correct range for Custer battlefield relic revolver. U.S. martially marked, Ainsworth inspected. John A. Kopec letter of authenticity stating the documented serial range and stating it is only four numbers away from the noted revolver found in the Indian village near the Little Big Horn. Mr. Kopec further states “There is no indication of fakery found on this example. So few revolvers found tody remain in “untouched” condition, and it is refreshing for me to examine this important “Custer era” example.” Relic condition with shortened 5” barrel, repositioned front sight, heavy pitting, and replaced screws. The gun appears to be as reported, a battlefield find, the markings are clearly visible on the frame with clear “A” on trigger guard. The one-piece walnut grips may be later replacements. A true and honest Ainsworth - Custer revolver.

Ledger paper, ink and pencil. Important drawing by the man many believed killed George Custer. The earliest known drawing (most likely executed right after the Battle of the Little Big Horn) attributed to Lakota Chief White Bull, nephew of Chief Sitting Bull. Mounted shadow box style and framed. Provenance: White Bull (1848-1947) to Judge Francis Zahn of North Dakota (d. 1966). Judge Zahn was Sioux. 20” x 21” red, green, light and dark blue, yellow and gold with two mounted and two standing warriors on front, two more warriors on horseback with ghost dance birds, all on native tanned hide. Good condition, circa 1900.

20 1/2” x 19” multicolored geometric designs on front with old trade cloth lining and native tanned fringe along bottom. Back has crosses and two horses with saddle blankets. Good condition, circa 1890s.

Early U shaped pouches of saddle leather, native tanned hide and cotton: a) Blue field with yellow stripe, central whirling log in deep red, 4 1/8” x 3 3/4”; b) Heart of yellow, red, green, gold, blue, white and light blue on light blue field, 2 strings of loose beads, 4 1/8” x 4”; c) Circle of yellow, red, and dark blue beads on light blue field with green star design. Edged in pink and green on flap and body, 4 3/4” x 4 3/8”.

Very rare and seldom available artifact of Native culture. Hide mask is quilled in a leaf and flower pattern, sewn in sections with fringe along both seams and edges. Trade cloth edged eye and ear holes. Custom display stand included. As was common practice with Native American tribes (who never let anything go to waste and frequently recycled and reinterpreted objects), this mask was created from an existing personal item. It is clear from the construction that this partic­ular mask was originally a full-size vest that was converted, probably during the reservation period 1890s. Native vest with beaded images of Indian in Bonnet, bow and arrow set, stars, flowers, and spade design. Bright blue background with green and dark blue border. Seams are finished with 1” fringe. Early cotton lining. Excellent condition.

Muslin backed and composed of red trade cloth and multicolored beadwork in geometric patterns. Two side panels 35” in length. Central panel with pink background is 8” x 7 1/2”. Split tabs on each side with twisted tassels. Some damage from mishandling and loose beadwork on a small section, but overall very good to excellent condition.

54” x 30” beaded and fringed on wool and cotton cloth. Multicolor leaf and floral designs on each corner with silk ribbon decoration, circa 1890-1910.

Decorative beaded saddle cover with traditional drop and beaded fringe. Floral Cree type beading on one horn with beaded binding. Rawhide tree, circa 1910-1920.

Early and notable bow case and quiver with parfleche-style decorations in applied paint. Rough tanned hide with several repair points and some wear holes. Colors and design reminiscent of traditional Apache tribes. This case includes a period bow that is the full length of the 47” case, the attached quiver is 24 1/2” in length. Some remnants of the buffalo hair remain on the interior. Circa 1860s case with repairs made over the years to the stitching with heavy sinew and added decoration.

A beautiful dress made in the traditional style from deer hide. Both traditional stitch and lane stitched pony beads in black, red, white and pumpkin on front and verso. Design slightly different on back. Fringed rows of dentalium shell beads and blue pony beads. Deer fur trim on end of each sleeve and on bottom. 50” length, 48” width cuff to cuff, circa 1870.

68” x 60” 2nd phase with horizontal solid bands of black and white with nine floating crosses and smaller black stripes on red field. Good condition, circa 1900.

62” x 86” 2nd phase style, all hand-spun native wool, natural brown, aniline red and indigo blue. Well-executed chief’s motif, with 9 red boxes with indigo diamonds. Circa 1900-1910.

129” x 65” hand-spun, lustrous native wool, with natural gray and white yarn and aniline dyed red, brown, orange and tan. Stepped-fret border surrounds a variety of symbols and figures around central corn person in headdress; 6 human figures, both native and anglo, holding pipes, tobacco; variety of birds; bow and arrow; 4 white otters; 2 steamer trunks; early automobile with front crank start; train on track; 4 trees of life; 5 ears of corn on the stalk, 4 white and 1 brown and white, circa 1920s.

Very showy pair of full mounted parade spurs with early “Bohlinmade - Hollywood” maker-mark, also marked Sterling and 12K. 1 1/16” wide bands fully covered in sterling with cookie cutter rowels. Custom overlaid gold brand on each spur, original tiedowns, and extra fancy sterling covered straps. 2 1/8” rope edge sterling conchos with gold overlaid initials.

Bohlin (football) maker-marked double-mounted 1940s sterling silver Hollywood parade spurs with 1” heelbands, Bohlin’s trademark 2 1/8” cookie cutter rowels plus swinging buttons attached to two-piece, floral carved fully lined straps affixed via 3-piece half-inch Bohlinmade marked engraved silver buckle sets adorned with diamond cluster square conchos. Very nice, 100% original condition.

Very fine belt buckle with early Bohlinmade – Hollywood football mark, 10K 2-color gold and sterling, gold rope edge and overlaid classic high relief Bohlin rearing horse. 2 1/4” x 3 1/4”.

Charming and regal one-of-a-kind artistically and intricately floral carved Edward H. Bohlin dark brown/burgundy silver mounted child or youth show saddle with a 12 1/2” seat plus matching Bohlinmade Martingale and Bridle with Bit. Saddle tastefully adorned with engraved 4” high silver cantle, sterling swell caps, 3” domed round corner conchos and fully bordered with sterling perimeter Bohlin trademark silver spots. The 18” long tapaderos are mounted with a family crest. The saddle was made approximately 30 years ago as a birthday present for a young boy whose name appears on the rear cantle plate. All pieces well Bohlin marked including the red and black corona and the only Bohlin silver overlaid pony bit we’ve seen. Excellent, rideable condition.

Ham Johns Model, sterling silver complete package with serapes, martingale, bridle and bit. Built on the Miles City tree with 14” swells, 4” silver cantle and solid silver horn with high relief buffalo head. Floral carved leather designs. Ornate serapes make a bold look for this show piece. Bit is Bohlin marked as is all the original pieces. The bridle was recreated for this saddle by the Bohlin Company using the original dies.

Fully mounted and measuring 2 5/8” long, maker-marked, sterling and 10k with Cheyenne heelband, 1 1/16”, 20 pt rowel, floral carved Bohlin maker-marked spur strap with mini silver engraved silver concho mounted with 3-piece ranger buckle set. Excellent condition, circa 1940s.

Black, tooled, buscadero rig for 4 3/4” Colt Single Action revolver, includes 32 sterling silver Bohlin marked display cartridges. Marked on leather with large early shield mark, and buckles marked with early football style mark. A nice early example of the true “Hollywood” cowboy gun rig.

Silver mounted vest adorned with engraved sterling silver diamonds and round conchos on both the front and back, interspersed with Bohlin’s trademark spots. Vest sports the Bohlin Hollywood/Palm Springs label on the interior lining. Matching leather parade cuffs.

Pink & purple hitched and braided bridle with star design domed conchos. Appears to be unused, with very minimum hair damage. This bridle shows all the characteristics and colors of Yuma, Arizona prison but this comes from the family of the original owner that states he purchased this at the Wyoming State Prison. Complete with hitched quirt.

Classic multicolored hitch-braided horsehair bridle with hitching over the glass rosettes, open reins celluloid ring affixed to leather at the top with traditional hardware store iron half-breed bit. Fine condition, circa 1920.

Full mounted with Powder River mark on each shank, large domed copper coin mountings with silver extended leaves. Coin button covers holding Buddy Foster straps with Adamson buckles. 7/8” bands and 2 3/8” shanks.

Late 19th/early 20th century bridle, lavishly adorned with a variety of fancy conchos in varying sizes on both the leather cheeks and browband, with classic coin silver hangers affixed to silver overlaid loose jaw spade bit in pattern popularized by California makers like Garcia and Estrada. Includes braided rawhide reins.

Stamped inside the heelband Gary Keithley, Melba, Idaho, these exquisitely inlaid California style spurs have silver inlaid stripes on the shanks and tops of the heelbands with floral engraved button the band and matching button on the rowel pin. The etched 2 1/2”-16 pt rowels, GK marked engraved sterling buckles on the straps, basketstamped two-piece leathers, 2” engraved and domed silver conchos off-side exquisitely and intricately floral chased, heel chains.

San Jose style off set shank spurs with silver wire inlay and finely chased center stripe. 2 1/4” full drop shank holding a 2 3/8”, 10 point rowel. Flat crosshatched strap buttons, with early elongated chain swingers. Straps are later additions with sterling domed conchos and hand tooling.

Maker-marked at the base of the heelbands with the squashed M, these silver overlaid long shank Morales spurs have 2”, 5 pt star rowels. Chap guards have been cut off. Very good condition, circa 1920.

Variation of the #23 California pattern spur with scalloped bands with 8 small and 1 large dot per band. The shanks are 2 1/2” quarter drop in the classic California style. The 12 point rowels are 2 1/8” dia. The straps are El Paso contemporary scale design with large Texas star conchos.

Heavy, stripe inlay spurs in a classic Rex Schnitger pattern, 7/8” bands inlaid with Arrow-K brand, split shank with chap guard, heavily worn original rowels.

Early pattern with Cheyenne split heelbands, striped inlays with dome in center of the 1” band. Inlaid 3” shanks with well worn 1 3/4” rowels. Straps are floral carved.

Gal leg pattern with copper and silver mountings, leaf and vine overlay on the tapered band. Locking rowels may be a restoration but are very well executed. The off-side mountings consist of the elongated triangle and alternate shank mountings. Lee Jacobs choose to put this pair on the front of his “A McChesney Manual” as it was used on the McChesney Company letterhead. Worn in spots with use dents and scratches. Iron is rust etched on exposed bands. Straps are contemporary.

1915 Silver coin button mountings, split 1” heelbands with 4 oversized domed mountings with 6 point stars on each. 2 3/8” shanks with chap guards hold 2” rowels. All original, heavy cowboy wear.

Pictured in the Visalia Catalog #22 (1923) as Pattern No. 130, maker-marked Visalia Stock Saddle Co / S F on all four iron buttons, these silver mounted California spurs with heel chains are adorned with cabbage leaf pattern engraving and a central 3/4” domed concho on each heelband. The partial 2 1/2” drop shank holds a 2”-12 point rowel. The floral carved two-piece leathers are mounted with 2 1/2” domed and scalloped maker-marked Visalia conchos. Fine condition, circa 1920s.

One of the best pair of twisted shank full mounted spurs we’ve seen. All original, found in a barn in New Hampshire. Have not been cleaned or messed with. Silver and copper engraved bars on one side, elongated triangles on the other.

Polo pattern No. 218, as new with mallet and ball overlay on bands on off side and JJ with triangles on the on side. 3/4” bands and blank rowels. Excellent condition with 99% finish remaining.

Inlaid monel on iron with swinging buttons. 3/4” bands with long, 2 3/4” shanks with chap guards.

Large heavy pair of full inlaid spurs from the Colorado Penitentiary. Deep leaf engraved monel inlays on tapered bands (7/8” to 1”) 3” bird head shanks holding a 2”, 16 point rowel. Basketweave stamped straps.

Well maker-marked C.P. Shipley and Kan City MO inside the heelband of both spurs, silver inlaid heelband with a inlaid elongated diamond shank. This catalog pattern No. 1495 is described as “Our Own Hand-Made Silver Inlaid Spurs even though they are almost identical in design to the August Buermann pattern of the same No.” The spurs are in very fine condition, though the rowel on the right spur has been changed. No straps.

Horseshoe pattern inlays and shaped band, 2” long shanks with small 1 1/4” rowel. Well marked inside band of both spurs. Straps with period stamped high domed conchos. Replaced double chains and swingers. Off side band tapers from 1/2” to 1”.

Exquisitely engraved California style spade bit patterned after the G. S. Garcia No. 65 with attribution to Bob McBride’s (El Gato) premier engraver Paulino. Full silver overlaid, loose jaw, triple slobber chains. Pristine condition, circa 1970s.

Straight shank with full mountings, double diamonds and spades. Well marked #26 spurs made with swinging buttons. Professionally restored rowels, otherwise all original.

Silver inlaid California spoon-spade bit with twisted wire and seven silver buttons on each cheek. Slobber chains and original rein chains. This is the classic kissing bird pattern that was popularized by virtually every early bit maker from California to New Jersey.

4 graduated silver conchos per side 1 1/2” to 1” with horseshoe buckles, all showing classic Hulbert design. The crescent moon bit has silver 1 3/8” conchos, with silver inlaid cheeks.

Unused classic braided set with engraved decorative hardware. Large domed conchos with 5 point star design, floral engraved slides and ends, and leaf buttons. The browband keepers are engraved with horseheads. Hair shows very slight wear to a small portion of the edge.

Diamond pattern maker-stamped in multiple places, silver ferrules, reins signed twice. Very good overall condition, circa 1950s.

Fine floral carved #2 loop seat saddle. 13” seat, 5 1/2” cantle, and 18” swells. Nickel horn. Marked Miles City Saddlery – Miles City Mont. – Makers of the Original Coggshall Saddle.

Card suit pattern, studded chaps. Custom tooled belt with the initials, A.C.H. Excellent condition overall, nickel studs forming a heart, club, diamond and spade.

California half seat saddle with 7” long angora bags and 6 1/2” monkey nose tapederos. Seat is 7 1/2”, condition is as new.

California style with 11 1/2” taps, 7 1/4” seat, Sam Stagg rigged 1/2 seat.

“The Tom Mix Saddle” in 40% scale. The saddle is a faithful reproduction of the saddle on display in the Tom Mix Museum in Dewey, Oklahoma. Letter from the Oklahoma Historical Society included. Tad states in part, “The Tom Mix #1 mark is under the flat plate rigging .... This is a dressy California style typical of the 1920s when Tom Mix was one of the best known personalities on earth....” The other letter states that the original saddle was made circa 1923 or 1924 by Brydon Bros. of Los Angeles. The saddle has about 350 silver spots outlining all the edges, which are also edged in black kangaroo lacing, each edge close to the last. There are perhaps 397 pieces of silver altogether. The back cantle has the Tom Mix brand in 14K gold.

Multi-Heart Saddle, made to represent a circa 1930s style saddle. Tad’s description of this saddle is, “Exactly 150 sterling silver, hand engraved hearts of different sizes are lined up around all edges of this two-toned saddle. Edges are hand-dyed in order to show up the brightness of the silver more dramatically. Rigging is 3/4 single, flat plate. Extra fancy, detailed hand-tooled effect on saddle and stirrups. Leather covered stirrups to match.” Circa 1999.

Miniature saddle maker-marked by Hafer on back of cantle. Basketstamped with attached saddlebags. Iron oxbow stirrups, 4 1/4” seat, 3/8” cantle. Circa 1920s.

Yorktown “Apple Horn” style saddle. Texas stars representing a circa 1850s - 1860s half seat. Described by Tad as, “Handmade rawhide covered tree. Half seat. Grooved cantle binding, with a drop down roll. Fully hand basket weave stamping. Bent Oak ‘Doghouse’ stirrups. Leather covered rigging rings. Nine stars in solid sterling silver, plain polished surface.”

Fancy loop seat saddle with rope edge horn and cantle, detailed sterling slotted conchos and studs. Featuring carved Texas Longhorn figures on each jockey. Deep and delicate floral carving in full coverage. Large square skirts and impressive 11” tapaderos with longhorn heads. An amazing example of Tad’s skill and craftsmanship. 5 1/2” seat, 2 1/4” cantle. As new condition, circa 1990s.

Cowboy Artist of America past member and noted saddle maker, horseman, and wood carver. Floral and leaf carving, square skirt, loop seat with taps. Miniature rope attached.

Each measuring 1/2” wide and 46” including the leather popper, both have the name LUIS B. ORTEGA carved into the leather popper. The fancier one has natural buttons with red and brown accents and a fancy crisscross on the popper, the other has natural and tea stained buttons.

Signed (carved) LUIS B. ORTEGA inside the leather popper, these fancy two-tone braided rawhide show reins are 1/4” wide with a half-inch romal. Both reins and romal adorned with natural and tea-stained, round buttons. Spanish knot design on the popper with alternating tea-stained interweaves. Excellent condition.

Signed inside the leather popper LUIS ORTEGA. Closed black rawhide 3/8”wide, 46” long reins with 16 engraved sterling ferrules and a 43” long, 1/2” wide romal with 7 silver ferrules. Decorated with natural rawhide knots interwoven with red accents. Very good overall condition, circa 1950s-60s.

/4” braided leather cheeks with a 13 1/2” long tapered 32 plait rawhide noseband interwoven with black and red leather accents. Heel knot also features black interweaves. Includes original Ortega leather hanger.

This wanted poster searches for the identity of the man in the stamp photo. “Passengers state he spoke with a Swedish accent.” “A private stage and two regular stages were held up below Grub Gulch.” “His face masked with a blue bandana and his hands blackened.” “He joked with the passengers.” “He gave the driver a slip of paper on which was printed in lead pencil, “The Black Kid.” “The robber demanded his lunch and an ax with which to break open Wells Fargo & Co.’s treasure box.” “They found near the scene of the robbery a barley sack evidently the property of the robber, containing among other things a compass, pair of field glasses and twenty-four stamp photos.” “The compass, field glasses and a 38-55 Winchester rifle were purchased in a second hand store in Fresno” “The foregoing is a brief history of two of the most daring crimes in the annals of stage robbery in California” “Do not post.” W.B. It’s assumed this was sent to the presiding sheriff of the area to alert him; b) Mug shot on booking card from San Francisco dated 1905. Henry Miller was arrested, charged and booked for petit larceny. The front and back of the card reads well with all the details, including Miller’s bad man look. Bureau of Identification, Department of Police, City of San Francisco. 6” x 5 1/2”.

1930s Edward H. Bohlin silver overlaid, Hollywood, California, maker-marked stainless steel spurs with 2 1/2" shanks, 1 3/4" cookie-cutter rowels. Bohlinmade, Hollywood oval football cartouche stamped below the bar affixed to the swinging buttons on the left spur. Right spur made-to-match. Two-piece floral carved, Bohlin marked straps with 1 1/2" scalloped and engraved conchos and 3-piece maker-marked 1/2" engraved sterling buckle sets. Holes drilled on the heelbands for tie downs. Worn extensively by Roy from the early 1940s through the 1950s. Prominently displayed in numerous photos and at the Victorville and Branson RR/DE museums. The brown boots are classic RR custom made with inlaid eagles on the shaft and back quarter and another eagle on the vamp. Gold inlaid stars cross the top piping with decorative pulls. The boots have a Roy-made 2" slit on along the sole, his unique way of breaking in a snug pair of boots – according to his son, Dusty. A 14k gold guitar pendant or fob inscribed to one of Elvis’s band members during The King’s 1973 tour at the Las Vegas Hilton. 4 9/16” long by 1” at the widest. The strings are all intact and adjustable, the tuning pegs work and both the pickup and the bridge are functional. Two rings on the top can be used for a chain. Inscription: To Dave: My Man, you are the greatest! Elvis / International Hotel 1973. The guitar does not have a pin; it hung as a necklace or suspension piece of jewelry. Revolver used by Kevin Costner in the Hollywood hit Silverado. A true movie gun made from a Colt Bisley .38 W.C.F. 4 3/4” barrel, now in .45 cal. for firing 3 in 1 blanks. Serial #186857 on frame, trigger guard and butt. White plastic grips of the type used during filming and refinish of bright nickel. Included are the black plastic grips, which were on the revolver at time of sale. Approximately 98% of renickel remains, Stembridge “S” on frame. Copies of the original Stembridge records for rentals to the movie. Letter from Allan C. Frisch, Conservator of Inventory at Stembridge. Displayed at the National Firearms Museum for the NRA exhibit “Hollywood Guns” in 2010. Sold in original sale of “The World Famous Stembridge Armory Collection” 2007.

A movie-used Uberti, E.M.F. Henry Rifle prop from the 1999 film, “Wild Wild West” starring Will Smith, Kevin Kline and Salma Hayek. Used by the weapons expert Munitia played by Musetta Vander. Clearly seen in the movie, this brass and nickel rifle with long telescopic (prop) optics stands out as period and correct. .45 long Colt caliber, 24” bbl. Serial #16429. From the 2007 sale of “The World Famous Stembridge Armory Collection”.

State of Texas - Sheriff - Presidio County 6 point star badge. Ball tipped, L.A. Stamp & Sty, L.A. Cal. 3” across. Shown as used by John Wayne in the movie Rio Bravo (1959). The badge is scratched on the reverse with Wayne’s signature but unsure of how it got there or when. The badge exhibits the correct construction and materials for the time period. Nickel plate is 99% with surface scratches.

Pictured on The Duke alongside Nudie in Jamie Nudie’s book on Page 40, this noteworthy Stetson features a 5” brim and 6” crown with a interior sweatband stamped “Made by Stetson especially for John Wayne” and marked “Nudies Rodeo Tailors North Hollywood, California XXXXXX Stetson Made in USA”. Excellent condition. Includes a sterling engraved hatband. “Pinkerton’s National Detective Agency”, “$2000 Reward – Circular No. 3 – Denver, Colo., November 14th, 1904” A scarce and important piece of outlaw history. A 2 page Wanted or Reward poster/flyer for: 1. GEORGE?PARKER, alias “BUTCH” CASSIDY, alias GEORGE CASSIDY, alias INGERFIELD. 2. HARRY LONGBAUGH, alias “KID” LONGBAUGH, alias HARRY ALONZO, alias “THE SUNDANCE KID”, “PARKER and LONGBAUGH are members of the HARVEY LOGAN alias ‘KID’ CURRY band of bank and train (express) ‘hold up’ robbers.” This circular is in response to the robbery of the First National Bank of Winnemucca, Nevada of $32,640 in September of 1900. Paper had separated at the folds and was professionally stabilized; the poster is otherwise sharp, clear and intact.

A father’s war exploits drawn in beautiful ledger art across the tipi surface by an unknown Sioux artist. 8 mounted warriors in full headdress. A tipi this size would have been a toy for a small child or for a collector wanting beautiful American Indian art during the early reservation period. Objects such as this tipi were a valuable source of income to Indian artists. Mounted on museum quality stretchers for hanging. Philip R. Goodwin, “Unwelcome Visitor.” Listed by Webster in Winchester Rarities (2000) as one of the most famous and desirable Goodwin posters. This was the third Goodwin image used by Winchester, and features a cowboy and his .401 caliber self-loading rifle encountering a grizzly. Forbes Lithograph Co. Excellent with very slight edge damage. Bright colors. Strauss WR-54 / Delph page 83. 29 1/2” x 15 1/4” with bands top and bottom.

Fine example of the famous 1897 “Double W” Cartridge Board. Original throughout, with oak frame and factory sticker. Missing bottom right #4 brass shell and bottom left window shell. 40” x 58”, fine overall. From “Winchester Promotional Arts” by Richard Rattenbury: “As much a three-dimensional display as a two-dimensional graphic presentation, the cartridge board typified the rather extravagant, yet often attractive and effective lengths to which companies would go in promoting their product during the late 19th century. - Commercial cartridge board designs culminated in the famous “Double W” board of 1897. Largest and the most elaborate of the series, it featured a central sporting print by A. B. Frost amidst an arrangement of over 200 cartridges.”

A full litho poster-style board with no actual cartridges. Produced by Winchester in 1902, this board has 9 more cartridge examples than the 1897 board. 40” x 58”

True Buffalo rifle with 3 names synonymous with the West (Sharps, J. P. Lower and Freund Bros.) in it's linage. The 1874 Sharps is .45 X 2 7/8 caliber. The bore is in excellent condition. The full octagon barrel is stamped on the top flat with the trade mark "Old Reliable", "J. P. Lower" and the Hartford address. The bottom of the barrel is stamped with "11 1/2" (the barrel weight) and the serial numbers (frame # over barrel number) as explained in the Sharp's letter accompanying the rifle. The metal surfaces are a smooth, even plum color. Military style stock and schnabbled fore arm show field use. Attached to the wrist is “F.W. Freund – Patented – October 19, 1875” marked pistol grip. Rear sight is standard leaf. Front sight is an ivory blade. Double set triggers. Overall weight is 14 to 16 pounds.

Face of blade marked in large letters parallel to the blade: “J.P. Lower & Sons - Special”. Ricasso marked “J.P. Lower & Sons / 377 Blake Street / Denver, Col.” Two piece finely checkered dark wood slab grips or scales affixed with 5 nickel pins, 8” blade, 12 1/2” overall. High level craftsmanship and construction with original black leather sheath. A fine piece from the “Sportsman’s Depot”. Excellent to mint condition.

“A Sure Defence” slogan in scroll, etched single edged spear point blade. One blade, 7 15/16” the other 8”, both marked in block letters on ricasso “James Rodgers - Sheffield”, molded running deer on stag-like 4 1/4” round handle. Overall 12 1/2”, clear marks and etching, sharp edges on nickel crossguard. Pressed leather scabbards with nickel hardware and studs. Wooden fitted case.

Etched 8” clip point blade boldly marked “Geo Wostenholm & Sons Celebrated California Knife”. The ricasso marked “G. Wostenholm & Sons IXL”. Overall knife is 12 1/4” with ivory slab grips attached with 4 pins and long silver escutcheon. The blade has areas of staining from the sheath but is otherwise in fine and bright condition. Appears unused. The sheath is fancy stitched and has nickel throat and tip.

True double blade pocket dirk or push dagger, circa 1860s. Well made but unmarked, 6 1/2” overall with a 5” blade. 3 3/4” across the top of the wood handle. Styled as the classic Will & Finck or M. Price dirks of San Francisco. Some believe the unique design was developed by cutlers for the gamblers of the Old West. Comes with a period ill-fitting leather sheath.

Unusually large dagger style bowie with full double edge 9” blade. Handles are 2 piece ivory grips attached with 4 silver pins and a rounded nickel pommel. The crossguard is 3” across with filed edges. The maker’s mark of Joseph Rodgers & Sons runs along the median ridge of spine of the blade. 14” overall in length. The blade shows blood etching or pitting in places and the ivory is cracking at the pin points. Appears the sheath is original and has leather body with nickel throat and cap.

.41 caliber, 6” barrel, nickel, pearl grips, cased with cleaning rod and ammo block. 60% nickel finish remaining on cylinder and trigger guard, 80% on frame and backstrap. Slight chip to pearl on bottom of one grip side.

“Frontier Six-Shooter” .44-40 caliber, 4 3/4”, nickel. Factory letter, shipped to Folsom Arms 1891. Serial #143063. Remnants of nickel on the barrel and ejector housing, 75% on frame and traces on other parts. Sharp clear markings, smooth hard rubber grips, all original.

Martially inspected by O.W. Ainsworth, barrel cut to 5 3/8”. Markings on the frame not visible, all matching numbers, slightly undersized grips, cylinder pin, trigger and hammer are replacements and has a late firing pin. Serial #12608. Worn and smooth gray, pitted throughout.

U.S. Cavalry revolver circa 1891, factory letter. Clean sharp gun overall. Sharp marks, clear cartouche on walnut grips, serial #138543. R.A.C. & K inspector marks are clear and overall the revolver is smooth brown and bright metal.

U.S. marked revolver serial #115432 on frame, #13291 on trigger guard and backstrap. Overall wonderful condition with bright case colors, blue in protected areas, cartouche and R.A.C. inspectors marks still visible on grips.

“New Jersey Militia” martially marked revolver in standard configuration and all original, .45, 7 1/2” blue. Factory letter, shipped August 3, 1883, serial #94362. D.F.C. (David F. Clark) inspected revolver. Also “G” sub inspector marked on trigger guard and butt. Overall brown with clear markings and all matching numbers. Grips show no cartouche.

Elaborate revolver with Tiffany style grips, silvered finish and highly engraved. Serial #322835. After-market finely executed embellishments make a fine looking Colt, with 98% silver, some wear on the grips and sharp but light markings.

Fancy, after-market engraved 7 1/2” with high relief 2-piece steerhead ivory grips and nickel finish. Serial #105582, .45 caliber, circa 1884. Factory letter states shipped to Hartley & Graham, New York. Condition is excellent after enhancements. Signature on inside of grip frame “Wolfe”.

New York style engraved, .45 caliber, 5 1/2” with 1-piece ivory grips. According to factory letter, gun was shipped in nickel to Hartley & Graham in New York, Feb. 5, 1883. All grey with sharp clear markings on barrel and frame, matching numbers show light wear. Grips show normal shrinkage.

a) Blue enameled tin sign, 13 1/2” x 19 1/2”, white raised letters. Sign is riveted to board then framed. Al Furstnow – Originator and Sole Maker of the “Saddle That Made Miles City Famous”. Some slight edge damage and light scratches on high points; b) Includes a great and graphic original blue and white merchandise tag, 3 1/8” x 6 1/4”; c) The holster is a fine double loop example of an early piece made to fit a 7 1/2” Colt Single Action. Nice light brown color with a large back skirt. The mark is a clear rectangle makers stamp at the top of the upsweep. Small hole cut into the back skirt for a belt hook.

Territory of Wyoming Bench Warrant, July 3rd, 1885 signed “F.W. Canton Sheriff Bail Fixed at $500 – No. 83 – The People of the Territory of Wyoming vs James Convery (?). Johnson County, Wyoming.” Territory documents are few and far between, and this one is signed by one of the most celebrated lawmen of the west. Warrant for “Branding horse with his own with intent to defraud” (i.e., a horse thief!). 6 3/4” x 8 1/2” open. Ink turning green, some edge damage.

Two page (front and back) Court Ledger from Philipsburg, Montana, County of Granite 1903 “Arrested For Prostitution.” a) Pearl McGill was arrested on misdemeanor as an inmate of a, “House of Prostitution.” Bail was set at $ 7.50 and forfeited, broken down to a $5.00 fine and $2.50 for court costs; b) Mable Taylor, same charges. Signed by Jno Axtell, Police Judge. 17 ½” x 21 ½” overall.

a) A bone handled “G. Woodhead – Sheffield – Warranted” 8 5/8” knife with crown top and 4 1/4” blade. Handle is cracked and missing a small piece of bone. Shows use and old sharpening; b) A very clean “Non XLL – Joseph Allen & Sons – Sheffield” 7 1/2” overall with a 4” blade with original leather sheath.

Dating to late 18th- early 19th century. This scarce long-gun has a two 29” barrel set with .50 caliber rifle (octagon) and .20 ga. (1/2 round) smooth bore. Extensively engraved and inlaid. Steel stock/reservoir covered in shawgren (ray or shark skin). Fancy flintlock locking hammer and spring system. Crafted by S. Staudenmayer, famous London gun maker “to the Prince of Wales and the Duke of York.” This rifle is a Staudenmayer standard, external-lock SINGLE shot airgun of a standard type, common in England in the 1700s and 1800s. On the left side of the receiver is a decocking lever, a feature that had not been invented until after 1810. We were incorrect attributing anything on this gun as invented by Bartolomeo Girardoni and it should be noted that it in no way resembles the Lewis Airgun - as listed inthe printed catalog

“Proclamation of the Governor of Missouri! Rewards for the arrest of Express and Train Robbers”. 18” x 11 7/8” Burch & Ferguson, State Printers, Jefferson, Mo. Paper is cracking and separating at folds. It was laid on thin cardboard many years ago. Corners show tack holes with chipping at the edges and holes.

Constantly mistaken for his good friend Buffalo Bill Cody, Bill DeVeney didn’t always walk away from the mistake. a) Bill’s beaded jacket, leather britches, and cowboy hat. The jacket is a heavy leather with fringe and beaded flower and leaf design. Photos of Bill with Cody, images of Bill in the jacket and a photo of Bill shaking hands with a friend wearing the same jacket; b) Framed, hand painted “DeVeney” coat of arms in original frame, on parchment type paper, 12” x 11 1/2”; c) Large 22” x 16” original portrait photo of William.

(Under a magnifier, you can see the target ball.) The other photos show Indians riding into the arena, cowboys and cowgirls on horseback, Indians on horseback and in arena on foot. Each are approximately 4 3/4” x 3 3/4”; b) Set of 10 images, each 6” x 4” on 9” x 7” photo board. A very scarce photo of Wild West management staff, taken in front of the management tent at the back lot while on tour in England. Excellent condition. Overton was a noted photographer of Cody, Wild Bill Hickok, and Texas Jack Omohundro.

This lot includes: a) Ed Phillips’ leather bag with hand beaded border and his initials EP beaded onto the front of the bag; made for him by his wife. Front features great descriptions of robberies perpetrated by “C. E. Boles” along with a description of the man. Shows loss of paper at bottom edge. Comes with a very rare handwritten page from the Wells Fargo Express ledger book that lists wanted criminals, including Black Bart, which is attached to a page from The Express Gazette, containing an article titled “The Train Robber.” 11 1/2” x 7” (folded)

One of the most sought after posters of Cody, “Chief of Scouts and Guide for U.S. Army” circa 1888. Depicting the life of the great scout, wagon master, pony express rider, trapper, stage driver, and many more exciting times of his career. Many fine design elements in this colorful litho. Trimmed to 24 1/2” x 17 5/8” from the original size, with sections of the title torn away.

Life Story of Col. W.F. Cody (Buffalo Bill) as Told by His Sister – Helen Cody Wetmore. 1st edition 1899 Lakeside Press. Embossed cover with image of a buffalo. Label inside front cover “This Edition is Limited to Five Hundred Numbered Copies. Numbered and Signed – W.F. Cody – This is No. 75” The book has slight soiling and edge wear, fraying on the bottom of spine, foxing on inside. Very scarce.

a) Early 1870s bridle with wide side panels. These early bridles were copied from the early Plains wide-band German silver styles. The style of decoration, and rocker engraving, is a Plains influence. The bit is all original and if not Navajo made, certainly decorated with stamp work by a Navajo. The bit was probably made in New Mexico between 1860s to 70s. The naja is a later replacement. The bridle has 3 3/4” conchos, the bit has a 8 1/2” wide chain bar. Overall 10” from top of the half breed to the bottom of the chain; Ex: Russell Foutz Collection / Jay Evetts Collection b) Stunning eagle bit with 2 1/4” conchos topped with turquoise stones. 2 1/2” wide cheeks with spread eagle cut iron. Full overlay of sterling engraved in classic Navajo style. Early Southwestbraided reins attached with leather popper. These are quite rare and date circa 1920s to 30s; For reference see page 186 of “Indian Silver Jewelry of the Southwest,” by Frank and Holbrook. c) Spurs by A.H. Hardy, marked 1944 for Jimmie and AH Hardy. Heavy sterling 1 1/2” swelled bands with 2 3/8” long shanks holding a 2 1/4”, 8 point rowel. Tooled leather period straps; d) Single loop Holster of brown and white hair-on cowhide with fringe and Navajo conchos. Included is a Colt Lightning .38 cal., 4 1/2” barrel, blue. Well used with 30% finish. #108654. The holster is 11” total; e) Medicine Bag with shoulder strap and concho decoration. 22 1/2” overall with a 5? 1/2” x 6 1/2” bag. Flap held by 2, 1” cone buttons. Attachments decorated with abalone on one side and turquoise on the other. Circa 1920s; f) Cotton Navajo woven cinch is 27” long by 5”. Circa 1920s. Provenance: Private New Mexico Collection (circa 1900-1940s) Custom stands are included.

Late 19th century leather bridle with large silver conchos, round twisted coin silver buckle, domed concho with tip affixed to desuenado iron silver globe cheek type. Very good condition.

Stunning custom embroidered and rhinestone jacket from the famed designer who dressed all three Hank Williams and made Johnny Cash the man in black. Fine condition, women’s size 8?

A rare single spur that was used with sandals or barefoot by pre-republic inhabitants of Mexico.

Sliver inlaid early spurs. 1 7/8” rowels, Spanish style stamping on the inlaid silver 5/8” beveled bands. Candy stripe inlay on the off side.

a) Studded and personalized batwing chaps with brass horseshoe and starburst designs on the wings, plus 18 - 1 1/2” slotted nickel conchos with latigo strings. Very good, 100% original condition; b) Early ornate pair of scalloped edge studded and personalized wrist cuffs with the same initials in fair condition; c) Leather studded fringed vest and rolled leather buttons; d) Early inlaid two-tone boots.

The famous No. 98 “Hat Spur” pictured in the Kelly Bros. El Paso Catalog 22 as one of the Kelly Circle Brand Bronc Buster Patterns. 1” band, 2 7/8” shank and 2 3/8”, 6 point rowel. Overlays consist of Mexican sombrero on band, shank tips, and hearts on the patented swinging buttons. These are as found, all original, show no use and come complete with what we believe are the original tooled dove wing straps. The straps are stiff and showing their age.

Unmarked, deep green, long hair angora chaps with basketweave tooling. Very good condition, circa 1915-25.

Silver inlaid and mounted curb bit with the Lazy JD brand on cheeks. Standard low port. Valley Ranch, on the South Fork of the Shoshone River in Wyoming, was one of the most famous and important Dude Ranches in the country.

Circa 1900-1910 beaded vest with crosses and banners in blue, red, green, and yellow on a white field.

Hoot’s signature style standard black hat with inside band signed To Hank Howdy from Hoot Gibson 1959. May be the owner of the famous Howdy Hank’s Teepee in Joseph City, Arizona? 7 1/2” crown, 3 1/2”, San Francisco model.

A fishing and sailing related scrap­book of Grey’s trip to the Galapagos Islands and Mexico. Great original snapshots by a professional photo­grapher, documenting what appears to be the making of a documentary. Large format of 9 1/2” x 15” and being 2” thick. Contains approximately 240 images. Only the last 5 pages out of 59 are separated.

Pair of period oil on canvas paintings of the famous couple by unknown artist(s), in what appears to be the original deep set frame built to hold the pair side by side. Each is 10” x 8”, circa 1870s. Provenance: Spoken history from the Elizabeth Custer family.

Impressive, 3 3/4” x 4 3/4” overall, Lander Country (Timberline or Nevada Blue) center stone of approximately 300 carats, surrounded by 10 smaller stones of approximately 15-30 carats each. No hallmark, but clearly the work of the Simplicio family (Dan or Mike). Stamped silver that has been cut-out in a leaf pattern, with silver raindrops. Circa 1960s.

Forsythe along with a photo of his commendation by Zellner, Junction City, Kansas. Image, 6” x 4” with the following written on the reverse, “Three Sioux chiefs from Pine ridge agency S. Dakota who are visiting their friends the Crows at the Crow Indian Agency, Montana”, “Front vest made of bones”, “Beaded moccasins”, “Tomyhawk”, “Sioux the most vicious of all tribes”. We have not examined these items out of the frame.

Cut-out shield badge mounted in shadow box with United States District Court Appointment to the post of Deputy Marshal of the United States for the Western District of Arkansas. July 20, 1896 at Fort Smith. Also framed is a 2 page complaint (warrant) against Albert Snell signed by Preston. 15 1/5” x 32”. Preston served for Judge Isaac Parker. The items are not known to have come together but the badge is of the same period.

Surviving many years in the ground until a tree grew around it, this Remington New Model 1858 remained locked away until a modern chainsaw came along and un-treed this treasure. 19” tall by 15” open, the wood shows the natural split up the trunk that would reveal the percussion revolver. Stabilized with braces on the outside and fitted with metal hinges to make a great display. There are unsubstantiated stories of where it was found, but we like the one about The Hole in the Wall in Wyoming.

This as-new set presents well in high quality luggage style cases. a) Ruger Vaquero (copy of the Colt Single Action) in .45 Colt and 7 1/2” barrel. Laser engraved with gold tone finish and silver accents. Trigger and hammer have jeweled finish. Cased with Crumrine Trophy belt buckle in high relief, 4 1/2” x 3 1/2” oval; b) Winchester Model 1894E Saddle Ring Carbine in matching .45 Colt caliber, with matching finish and case. Stock is a fancy grade with deep carving. Side of the frame has facing rearing horses.
