On March 9, 1916 Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa and 500 of his Villistas attacked the border town of Columbus, New Mexico. the United States responded by immediately dispatching U.S. Army forces under the command of General John J. "Blackjack" Pershing to avenge the border penetration and capture the bandit Villa. Pershing deployed eight Curtiss JN-2s of the First Aero Squadron for use as scouts in the mountainous Mexican territory to which Villa and his men had fled. This is a L/E print of 750 and is personally signed by the artist. It has never been mounted and is in perfect condition. A self-proclaimed reckless "racer", Markus was the youngest and most challenging of the four Pierson children. * While a student, an encouraging art teacher swung wide the door to Markus' talent and profoundly moved him. However, the Grand Ledge art scene was somewhat lacking, leading Markus to take on a number of odd jobs before accidentally stumbling upon accounting as a means to making a living. After a near-fatal bout with Crohn's Disease in early 1985, he declared that the accountant was "dead" and in his place was a man pursuing his dream of becoming a successful artist. * The Coyote Series was born in June of 1986, after Markus heard the Joni Mitchell song, "Coyote." As a child, he would seek out whatever raw materials he could find, drawing on cigarette packs with stubs of pencils, or using eye-shadow and lipstick illicitly obtained from his mum's makeup bag. Struggling with dyslexia throughout his childhood, Mackenzie found confidence in painting and drawing. Unsurprisingly, he left school without formal qualifications, taking on a variety of manual, unskilled jobs while continuing to draw and paint. Mackenzie eventually got the courage to enter the local art college. This is a full uncut sheet of Peanuts trading cards, in near mint condition, just as it came from the printing press, complete with registration marks. There were 33 cards in the set and this sheet contains 99 cards, making three complete sets. It measures 37" x 26". It is printed on a heavy "trading card" stock, with color printing front and back. The backs of the cards have descriptions of the scenes, and copyrights from what year the original was produced. The whole card sheet was produced in the mid 1990's. * These cards, which even include one of Charles Schulz, were a real tribute to the Peanuts gang, and this uncut sheet makes for a really special Peanuts collectible.

Around the world in style... In 1958 Australia's national airline, QANTAS, inaugurated an around the world service using their new Lockheed 1049G Super Constellations. The super Connies were the queens of international airline fleets, a position they enjoyed until the introduction of the early jets. The rain wetted ramp might be Hong Kong or Idlewild, Karachi or Le Bourget and one is left with the smell of rain in the evening air. This print is a L/E of 650 and is sign by the artist. It has never been mounted and is in perfect condition. It comes with a COA that is suitable for framing and the image size is 21" x 14".

In 1915, Universal began promoting their mystery adventure serial "The Broken Coin," by distributing buttons and mirrors to theaters, most made by The Whitehead and Hoag Co. Some, however, were special ordered by theaters with their names imprinted on them, and these were made by the Parisian Novelty Co. of Chicago. This is an example of one of those most rare mirrors from E.A.R. THEATRE on the south side of Chicago. It is 2" in diameter with manufacturer name printed on the edge. The glass is a little spotty, and the celluloid has some darkening, but the image and logo is nice and strong. * This is a great relic from the silent era, from a long lost picture, and a theater long ago demolished.

Liege single shot .50 caliber smooth bore percussion carriage pistol with hand engraved hammer, lock and even screw heads as well as engraved trigger guard, which is german silver as is the but. The walnut stock is beautifully hand checkered and retains most of its original varnish. There is a small hairline crack from one mounting screw that could easily be repaired, but as is does not attract from the piece. The tiger striped damascus octagon barrel is fine and the striping is vivid. The ramrod is original to the 1830 Circa gun. The pistol has a very graceful shape and is in very good untouched condition. MWF1935

Making landfall after a long patrol, the No. 6 boat of VP-91 heads home to Southern Cross Airfield, Barking Sands, Kauai, Territory of Hawaii, in May 1942. Even though the lighthouse on Kilauea Point below had its light, and the nearby radio homing towers deactivated for wartime security, aircrews making landfall at this northernmost point in the Hawaiian Island chain always heaved a sigh of relief when seeing the solitary structure, still a beacon of hope.
