ALS as president signed “R. B. Hayes,” one page, 4.25 x 6.5, Executive Mansion letterhead, November 16, 1880. Letter to General Heidekorfer regarding a postal appointment, noted at the top, “Private.” In full: “Mrs. Matilda D. Scott who is now employed in the unit wishes a place in the Post Office. She will call on you & present her wishes. Please hear her and do the best you properly can for her. Mrs. E. L. Stanton, an excellent lady of this city vouches for her entire worthiness.” Double matted and framed with a Pach Bros. portrait and a small caption, to an overall size of 19.5 x 15 In fine condition, with intersecting folds.
