#88 Lot 91 Richard Nixon

Two items: vintage paperstock 6.25 x 10.5 head-and-shoulders photo of a young Nixon bearing a printed signature, and signed and inscribed below in blue ballpoint, “To Donna, With best wishes, from Richard Nixon”; and a TLS, one page, 7 x 9, May 15, 1956, Office of the Vice President letterhead. Nixon writes to Harry J. McLaughlin of the Patriot and the Evening News, in part: “I appreciated your thoughtfulness in telling me about Walter Stauffer’s victory in the primary election, and a copy of my wire to him is enclosed.” In very good to fine condition, with a trivial spot of soiling and a few surface dings to photo, and a central horizontal and vertical intersecting fold, a few isolated areas of soiling, and a few surface impressions to the top left corner of the letter. Accompanied by two Senate passes and a secretarially-signed TLS.
