Vintage matte-finish 9.5 x 7.5 Harris and Ewing photo of Roosevelt at his desk with a pile of papers, fountain pen in hand, signed and inscribed in the lower border in fountain pen as president, “To Rev. Cornelius Greenway ‘In the spirit of the American future’ Franklin D. Roosevelt.” Photo is affixed to a mount and framed to an overall size of 13.25 x 12.5. In fine condition, with a bit of light silvering to edge of image. The third of the Roosevelt administration’s major proposals, the Civilian Conservation Corps, put three million men to work across America. On Monday evening, July 17, 1933, in a radio address, President Roosevelt called the Civilian Conservation Corps ‘the Vanguard of the new spirit of the American future.’
