Free-franked White House mailing envelope, 6.5 x 3.75, addressed in another hand to “Mr. Edward Stern, 87 Nassua St., New York City,” and franked in the upper right, as president, “Wm. H. Taft.” Engraved in the upper left “THE WHITE HOUSE, Official Business, Penalty for Private Use to Avoid Payment of Postage $300.” Envelope also bears a May 15, Washington, D.C., postmark. In fine condition, with a bit of scattered light soiling.
