#126 Lot 131 Harry S. Truman
Color vintage matte-finish 13.25 x 16.75 photo, affixed to its 15.5 x 20.5 mount, signed and inscribed on the mount in fountain pen, as president, “To John W. Snyder, a great Secretary of the Treasury, a man I’m proud to call friend, with affectionate regards, Harry S. Truman, White House, Jan 16, 1953.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 21.5 x 27. In very good condition, with mild dampstaining and toning to bottom of mount, resulting in portion of inscription and signature light, but still legible, mild toning to mount, and a bit of light silvering to image. John W. Snyder (1895-1985) first met Harry S. Truman in 1928. They served together in the Army Reserves after World War I. Under President Truman, Snyder held several positions, including Secretary of the Treasury from June 25, 1946, to January 20, 1953, resigning on January 14, 1953. Oversized.
