#130 Lot 135 Samuel Adams
Partly-printed DS, one page, 14.75 x 9.5, October 13, 1795. Governor Adams appoints Thomas Spring a “Lieutenant of a Company in the fifth Regiment of the first Brigade, Sixth Division of the Militia of this Commonwealth.” Signed on the left side under the embossed seal, “Samuel Adams,” and countersigned at the bottom by John Avery. Intersecting folds, with a horizontal fold passing through tops of a few letters of signature, a few small separations along folds (complete separation along central vertical fold has been repaired on reverse with archival tape), and uniform toning, otherwise very good condition. A boldly signed example.
