#174 Lot 185 Declaration of Independence: George Clymer
Signer of the Declaration of Independence; founder and president of the Bank of Philadelphia. Manuscript DS, signed twice “Geo. Clymer,” one page, 7.75 x 4, March 26, 1802. Promissory note reads, in part: “Sixty days after date I promise to pay…George Clymer or order Twelve Hundred & Twenty five dollars.” Document has been professionally inlaid to a 10.5 x 13 sheet. Signed at the bottom by Clymer, who signs again on the reverse. Intersecting folds, small pencil notations to document and sheet, a uniform shade of toning, and slight show-through from docketing on reverse, otherwise fine condition.
