American transportation businessman (1819-1887) known as the ‘Stagecoach King’ until his routes were taken over by Wells Fargo in 1866. Oregon and California Railroad Company business check, 8.75 x 3.5, filled out in another hand and signed by Holladay, payable to Geo W. Weidler for $70.00, January 11, 1870. Encapsulated in a plastic PSA/DNA authentication holder. Several vertical folds, one through a single letter of signature, stamp to top left, and light show-through from endorsements on reverse, otherwise fine condition.
