Sheriff of Sierra County, California from 1862–1866. Partly-printed DS, signed “J. Kirkpatrick,” one page, 7.25 x 3, 1862. A receipt issued to Thomas Rogers stating he “has paid the Sheriff of Sierra County the sum of 53.66 dollars taxes as assessed upon property in said county.” Signed at the conclusion by Kirkpatrick as sheriff. Several vertical folds, a few through single letters of signature, scattered toning, a bit heavier to left edge, and light show-through from notation on reverse, otherwise fine condition.
