#277 Lot 292 Shimon Peres and King Hussein
Commemorative program, 8.25 x 13, commemorating the award of the 1995 Gabriel Peace Prize, with text in Hebrew, Arabic, and English, printed on high quality stock with five color photographs including a fold-out of the Signing of the Peace Treaty between Israel and Jordan, on October 26, 1995, depicting President Clinton, Shimon Peres, Yitzhak Rabin, King Hussein of Jordan as well as several other dignitaries. Signed and inscribed on the inside title page by Shimon Peres in Hebrew, and Hussein I bin Talal, King of Jordan (in Arabic). Two other signatures are likely the reward recipients although this has not been positively identified. In fine condition, with some scattered light soiling and creasing to signed page. King Hussein and Prime Minister Peres attended a ceremony in which the Gabriel Peace Prize was awarded to Ambassador Elyakim Rubinstein and Ambassador Fayez Tarawneh for the role they played in the negotiations leading to the signing of the Israel-Jordan peace treaty in October 1994. Accompanied by a letter from the office of His Majesty the King, dated August 25, 1996, addressed to Hanita Halevy thanking her for a gift of poems by her cousin Ely Rubinstein.
