#311 Lot 331 Booker T. Washington
TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute, Alabama letterhead, May 10, 1898. Washington writes to Henry R. Howland of Buffalo, New York, in full: “I take the liberty of enclosing a circular which will tell you definitely about the condition and needs of our school at Tuskegee. In case you have not already done so, if you can see your way clear to help us, I shall appreciate it very greatly, especially at this time when the war excitement makes it very hard for us to get the necessary funds to carry on the work from day to day.” In very good condition, with lightly intersecting folds, some light creasing, a uniform shade of toning, a mild separation to the central horizontal fold below a small area of thin paper loss. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
