#325 Lot 346 Charles Louis Fouquet

French general and statesman (1984–1761). LS in French, signed “Louis duc de Belleisle,” one page both sides, 8 x 11.5, May 24, 1760. Letter reads, in part (translated): “In one of your letters you insist that Captains de Joinville and d’Allemand be dismissed from the Corps which you command because they encouraged a spirit on indiscipline and insubordination…In your second letter you indicate that their apologies and the one month they spent in prison are enough punishment…a strong letter of condemnation has already been sent and should be effective for your purposes.” Intersecting folds, and some scattered light creases and foxing, otherwise fine condition.
