#326 Lot 347 George Gay
World War II Navy pilot (1917–1994) who was the only survivor of his squadron’s air attack on the Japanese fleet at the Battle of Midway. Original acrylic painting by Ray Waddey, canvas stretched over a wooden frame, 24 x 20, depicting Gay flying in formation, signed in the lower portion in silver ink, “Geo. Gay,” and also signed by Waddey. In fine condition, with some light discoloration to vertical edges.
