#351 Lot 375 PT-109: Gerald E. Zinser

Survivor of the crew of the PT-109, who were rescued when John F. Kennedy carved a message on a coconut shell and friendly natives delivered it to the US Forces. Ten consecutively numbered limited edition souvenir typescripts, all one page, 8.5 x 11, each signed in blue ballpoint by Zinser. Zinser reflects upon his experience with John F. Kennedy. In part, “Lt. John F. Kennedy, saving a sailor by gripping the mans life jacket laces in his teeth…Kennedy towed…McMahon about one hour getting him back to the part of the boat that was still floating…In all my 20 years of Naval service I met many good officers, but none could equal John F. Kennedy.” Signed at the bottom in blue ballpoint by Zinser. In fine condition.
