French painter and military artist (1848–1912). ALS in French, one page, 4.5 x 5.5, March 2, 1893. Letter to Madame Bataille. In part (translated): “I am not part of the jury of painting, but I can recommend your protege to my comrades who are at the Palace of the Industry.” Reverse bears an address panel in Detaille’s hand. In fine condition, with a uniform shade of toning.
