#576 Lot 604 Sarah Josepha Hale
American editor and author behind the beloved nursery rhyme, ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’ (1788–1879). Ink endorsement signature, “Sarah J. Hale,” on an off-white 3.25 x 1.25 slip clipped from a check. In very good condition, with a few stray marks, a portion from another signature visible, a pencil notation above the signature, and show-through from print on the reverse.
