British actor (1885–1946) best known for his roles in such horror films as Mark of the Vampire and Son of Frankenstein and as Moriarty to Basil Rathbone’s Sherlock Holmes. Haunting vintage sepia matte-finish 8 x 10 publicity photo from one of his many horror films, signed in fountain pen, “From one trapeze artist to another, Lionel Atwill.” Scattered mild to moderate surface marks and spots of soiling, silvering to the darker areas of the image, and poor contrast of the signature and sentiment against the dark background, otherwise very good condition.
