#1003 Lot 1041 Charlie Chaplin
Vintage matte-finish 9 x 11 head-and-shoulders photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Mayme Ober Peake, with best wishes, Charlie Chaplin, Hollywood 1936.” In fine condition, with a couple pencil lines and light toning to edges (easily matted out), and some light contrast to date and location of signature. Peak was the first female reporter assigned to cover Hollywood. She was also the first president of the Hollywood Women's Press Club, and had a career covering diplomatic and other political stories in Washington.
