American Civil War financier and railroad magnate (1821–1905). ALS, one page, lightly-lined, 8 x 4.5, January 10, 1852. Letter to Saul McGrath. In part: “Please take notice that agreeably to the terms of the Lease between Saul McGrath & Jay Cooke for the home 215 Chestnut Street…it is my determination to give up and surrender premises of the house.” In fine condition, with two vertical folds, one through a single letter of signature, scattered mild toning and trimmed edges.
