#1743 Lot 1803 George B. McClellan

ALS signed “Geo. B. McClellan,” one page, lightly-lined, 8.5 x 11, Office of the Atlantic & Great Western Railroad Co., New York letterhead, June 14, 1872. In McClellan’s difficult to decipher hand, he writes to Douglas Taylor concerning a “Mr. Bastin,” asking Bastin be excused from a committee on the grounds of his constantly being called “away from the city.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, one passing through a single letter of the signature, a rusty paperclip impression to the top left corner beside a small mounting remnant, a tear to the right edge, a few pencil notations, and mild mirroring from premature folding.
