#1764 Lot 1824 James Negley

Union general and Pennsylvania representative who played an integral role in the victory at the Battle of Murfreesboro (1826–1901). New York, Pittsburgh, and Chicago Railway Company First Mortgage Bond for $1000, #514, Series A, 10.25 x 14.25, signed at the conclusion in ink as secretary, “James S. Negley, Jr.” Also signed by the president and treasurer. Bond includes two attached sheets of thirty-dollar bond certificates, 77 in total, each bearing a number on the reverse, with three missing (numbers 1–3) from the bottom of the first sheet. In fine condition, with three horizontal folds and a light strip of toning across the central fold.
