European officers sword with cast-brass hilt, guard, and grip, that are gold gilt and etched blade marked Klingenthal. The originals scabbard shows matching gold gilt, the body shows an old re-covering leather and
a silver escutcheon is inscribed “Fur Fahnenweike/ 12. 6. 10/ gen Kr. Verein/ Beiseforth”. The blade shows old light cleaning and the etching is faint, otherwise very good condition overall. The blade
measures 33-1/2”. The sword is 39-5/8” overall. Most original gold gilt on the hilt. This imperial era sword has a Germanic look but was found in Mexico, which is entirely possible as the Germans had a presence in
Mexico in the late 19th and early 20th century.
