Egg Tempura Painting Spotted Owls - Mary Francis Dondelinger. The artist juxtaposes the ancient art of egg tempera iconography onto the disposalbe of backdrops-the humble paper plate. The plate-as-canvas serves as a symbol of 21st century throwaway culture. She uses precious materials like 23 carat gold, egg tempera and rabbit skin glue. This haunting artwork is titled, ''Sacrifice: The Modern Icon, Mexican Spotted Owls,'' by Mary Francis Dondelinger. The piece is slated to appear as the cover art on an upcoming book, ''Modern Icons: The Sacrifice of Endangered Species of the American Southwest''. Ms. Dondelinger has won numerous awards in local and regional exhibitions and was displayed at the Belvedere Palace Museum curated by Thomas Zaunschirm. She paints on recycled material if possible.
