1983 Original Watercolor ''October 28th'' - John Gable. Kennebunkport Maine artist. John Gable, an original and incisive artist, combines a realist's style with his own independent spirit. His distinct sense of composition infuses his work with a quality of light and atmosphere that creates a mood beyond realism. The viewer shares John’s intimacy with the subjects he paints. His work exhibits a rare combination of technical facility and emotional involvement. His range is extremely broad, including works representing subject matter near the artists environment in Maine to studies of the Boston Classical Orchestra in concert and the annual "Head of the Charles" race. He has been involved in painting corporate murals. He completed a 65-foot mural for the Automotive Hall of Fame at Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. His rising international reputation was heightened by two major commissions which captured the spirit of the world-class America's Cup. The artist has many one-man shows in leading art galleries in New York City and around New England. His work may be found in private and corporate collections around the country. He was awarded the coveted William A. Paton Prize at the 161st Annual Exhibition of the National Academy of Design. Framed and matted, under glass. Very heavy.
