Lot 68 Unique Unmarked 19th Century Percussion Alarm Gun
Forged iron construction, this alarm gun has no visible markings, but is probably American made. Total length is 6 1/4 inches. It consists of a massive hammer and exposed mainspring. A rope or string is tied to the sear and when pulled the hammer drops striking the musket sized percussion nipple setting off a charge. There is a tube on the underside behind the sear which serves as a guide for the rope or string. A brass collection tag (number 364, reportedly from the Robert Petersoen collection) is affixed to the mainspring.
