Lot 1076 Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action .22 Short Rifle
Manufactured in 1891. This is a desirable .22 short chambered example of a Third Model Winchester 1873 rifle with the distinctive integral dust cover rail. Blade and adjustable buckhorn sights on a barrel stamped with the two line address/King's improvement patent dates marking followed by "22 Short". The brass cartridge elevator is marked "22 CAL./SHORT" and the upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873". Plain forearm and straight grip stock with steel end cap and crescent buttplate. The rifle also has a single set trigger.

Condition: Good. The rifle retains small traces of original blue finish in the protected areas with the balance a mottled brown patina. There is some mild spotting. The wood is good with some minor pressure dents and scratches with a 2 inch sliver of wood missing from top of the forearm (right side). Mechanically functions, but is missing the extractor; henceforth the dust cover does not move when lever is retracted.
