^Lot 1638 Swiss Model 1900 DWM Commercial Luger Pistol

This is an early four digit number DWM Model 1900 Swiss commercial contract Luger of which an estimated 2,000 commercial pistols were ever produced. These pistols were the first contract by the Swiss government for the Luger pistol and represented the first of many Luger contracts with the DWM factory. This pistol has the early features such as the dished toggles with toggle lock, the flat/recessed breech bolt, no stock lug, grip safety, flat main springs, and fast taper barrel that is 4 3/4" long. This pistol is correctly marked with the standard "Swiss Cross in Sunburst" over the chamber, and "DWM" scroll on the front toggle. It has the standard Swiss Cross and Swiss control proof on the barrel extension, and has standard sights with the modified "U" notch rear sight with the small Swiss Cross in front of the rear sight. It has the full serial number on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel with the partial serial number (27) on the various small parts, to include the back sides of both grips. It is complete with a correct Swiss style nickel plated unmarked magazine with wood base.

Condition: Near mint with 99% of a professionally restored blue and straw color finish overall. The edges are sharp and the markings are clear and distinct. The grips are also in near mint condition with nice distinct checkering that has been lightly recheckered on both sides. This is an attractive representative example of a scarce early 1900 Swiss Luger that would be a perfect pistol for a beginning collector.
