Lot 1781 Exceptional Restored U.S. WWI Contract Remington-U.M.C. Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol
Manufactured by Remington Arms - U.M.C Co., Bridgeport, Connecticut Works in late 1918, this pistol has a dull brush-blued finish (like a Black Army Colt 1911). The pistol is fitted with a two-tone flat base magazine. The right side of the slide has the early, two-line, markings "MODEL OF 1911/U.S. ARMY CALIBER .45". The left side of the slide is roll-stamped: "PATENTED DEC. 19, 1905/FEB. 14 1911. AUG. 19 1913/COLT PT. F. A. MFG. CO" in a three line block followed by "REMINGTON/UMC" in a circle and "MANUFACTURED BY/REMINGTON ARMS UMC CO. INC./BRIDGEPORT, CONN. U.S.A." in three lines. The left side of the frame is stamped with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" ahead of the trigger guard and the final inspectors initials "E.E.C" and the "Eagle Head/E1".
