Lot 3064 Bartlett Contract U.S. Model 1808 Flintlock Musket
This Asher and Pliny Bartlett of Springfield, Massachusetts produced Model 1808 is likely a state contract musket featuring a lock plate without the federal government eagle/U.S. stamping. State contract muskets bear only the Bartlett marking ahead of the hammer. The lock plate is dated 1813 and marked "S.CT/BARTLETT". The barrel at the breech is stamped "P/IB" and "M/1812". The stock is without markings and has a blank initial oval behind the barrel tang. Three barrel bands with a blade sight on the front band and a sling swivel on the middle band. A second sling swivel is attached to the trigger guard. "TC" is stamped ahead of the trigger.
