Lot 3070 Spectacular U.S. Burnside Model 1864 Breechloading Percussion Carbine
Produced circa 1863-1865. Blade front and two leaf folding rear sights, with "CAST STEEL 1864" and "MM" on top of the barrel. The top of the frame is marked "BURNSIDE PATENT/ MODEL OF 1864" with "BURNSIDE RIFLE Co./ PROVIDENCE=R.I." on the lock plate. Single letter inspection proofs are present on some parts. Smooth forearm and straight wrist stock, with a "RKW" cartouche on the wrist, "NSP" on the comb, and a smooth buttplate.

Condition: Excellent, with 98% of the original blue finish, showing bright edge wear, and scattered handling marks. Case colors are 90% intact, bright and vivid, with minor fading on the edges. The nitre blue on the top and lower tangs is slightly thin with 70% remaining. The breechblock and lower lever retain 95% plus original nitre blue. Stock is excellent, with sharp cartouches, raised feathered grain and some minor dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
