Lot 3082 Ames U.S. Model 1850 Foot Officer's Sword with Scabbard
30 1/2 inch double fuller blade, with the three line Ames, Chicopee, Mass address on the left ricasso, and decorative etching on either side, with an American Eagle on the right, "U.S." on the left, and vines and arrays of arms on both sides. Gilt brass guard with cut-through floral vines, laurel engraved pommel and wire wrapped rayskin grip. Black leather scabbard, with punch dot backed leaf engraving and star patterns on the throat and suspension band, and a sunrise and "US" over an eagle on the tip. The scabbard lacks the usual Ames markings on the throat
