Lot 3112 U.S. Massachusetts Arms Smith Patent Breechloading Percussion Carbine
German silver blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with "G.W.S." and "M/P" on the left barrel flat. On the left side of the frame are the markings "MANUFACTURED BY/MASS. ARMS CO./CHICOPEE FALLS.", "ADDRESS/POULTNEY & TRIMBLE./BALTIMORE. U.S.A." and "SMITH'S PATENT/JUNE 23 1857". Smooth straight grip stock, with "AM" and "AJN" cartouches on the left side, and "N" on the buttplate heel.

Condition: Very good, with a mixed brown and gray patina showing on the barrel, with pitting on the latch and scattered handling marks. A non-factory staff sight base has been affixed to the top of wrist. The casehardened parts have turned a mixed gray patina. Stock is very good, with light, but visible cartouches, dents. Mechanically fine.
