Lot 3139 Two Ames Made Military Weapons
1) Ames 1850 Pattern Staff & Field Officer's Sword, 32 1/4" blade with fine decorative etching. No scabbard. Gilt finished guard, with cut through floral and "U.S." designs, helmet pommel and a wire wrapped rayskin grip. 2) U.S. Ames sword bayonet, no scabbard. 21 1/2" blade with 1855 date and brass fish scale pattern hilt.

Condition: 1) Very fine, with some light spotting and scratching on the near excellent blade and over 40% of the original gilt finish. A few brown spots are visible on the underside of the guard, with mild wear on the grip. 2) Good, with a dark brown patina , dings on the blade and a fine mixed color on the brass. The locking collar is absent.
