Lot 3140 Two American Swords with Scabbards
1) Non-regulation Staff & Field Officer's Sword, 31 1/4 inch diamond profile blade with etched decoration on each side and "U.S./ARMORY/Springfield/Mass." on the right side. Gilt finished hilt, with raised patriotic designs and a wire wrapped black painted wood grip. With a nickel finished scabbard and gold washed fittings. 2) W.A. Raymold 1872 Pattern Artillery Officer's Sword, 31 3/4 inch curved single fuller blade with etched decorative panels on each side, "4" stamped on the right ricasso, "W.A./RAYMOLD/1/NEW YORK/N.Y." on the reverse. Gilt washed stirrup style hilt, with a checkered panel on the back strap and a wire wrapped black sharkskin grip. Nickel finished scabbard, with gold washed components.

Condition: 1) Very good, with some flaking of the grip paint, scabbard spotting and mild handling marks. 2) Very good. The blade shows minor handling marks and spotting. 65% original hilt finish remains, with a few dents. Scabbard is very good, with a screw absent from the tip.
