Lot 3259 U.S. Remington Model 1871 Army Rolling Block Pistol
Manufactured from 1872 to 1888 with a total production of approximately 6,000, with approximately 5,000 sold to the U.S. government. The pistol has an 8 inch blue barrel, casehardened frame with distinctive hump on the back strap. The left side of the frame is marked "REMINGTON ILION N.Y. U.S.A./PAT. MAY 3D NOV. 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH 1866". There are "P" and "S" acceptance makings on the left side of the frame and a clear boxed "CRS" cartouche on the left side of the grip.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel retains 70% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The frame retains 75% original case colors. The wood is fine with some scattered minor pressure dents and a small missing chip on the grip (right side near frame). The cartouche is crisp. Mechanically fine.
