Lot 3737 Colt U.S. Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol
This is an example of a Colt U.S. Model 1911 Pistol that was manufactured in 1918. This pistol could possibly be one of the 900 shipped to the Brooklyn Navy Yard on August 18, 1918 in the serial range of 360,329-367,114, but we cannot verify as this is a seven thousand number spread. Note that these pistols have the U.S. Army marked slide. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block 1897 - 1911 patent dates and address flanking a Rampant Colt, the right side is marked "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY", and the small "H" inspection mark on the back. The left front of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with an "eagle/S12" proof above the magazine release and the "No." style serial number on the the right frame side. Blue barrel marked with "P" and "H" on top of the chamber. Smooth trigger, checkered magazine release, slide stop, thumb safety and hammer spur and flat mainspring housing. Checkered walnut grips with diamond pattern around the screws and unmarked two tone magazine.
