Lot 3741 WWI U.S. Colt Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Leather Holster Web, Belt and Magazine Pouch
This is an excellent example of a an original WWI US "Black Army" contract Model 1911 semi-automatic pistol that was produced in 1918. The slide has the original two line, two block markings with the Rampant Colt located between the two blocks. The right side of the slide has the standard "MODEL OF 1911 U.S.ARMY" marking. There is a "G" inspector proof on top of the frame with a "eagle/ S12" proof, on the left side above the magazine release button with the" UNITED STATES PROPERTY in front of the slide stop pin hole. The right side of the frame is stamped with only the serial number, "No 494194". It is fitted with a checkered wide spur hammer, short milled trigger with smooth face, flat mainspring housing and the short grip safety. The barrel is a early post-WWI manufacture made by the Flannery bolt company that has a single small "F" proof on the lug. It has standard checkered walnut grips with the diamond pattern around the screw holes and is complete with on two-tone magazine lanyard loop magazine. Additionally this lot has the following items: an original WWI GI leather holster marked "G&K/1918/A.G."on the back side, an original unmarked web belt with an original two pocket magazine pouch. The pouch is marked "MILLS/1918" on the inside of the flap.

Condition: Excellent overall with 95% plus original late war dark blue (almost black) finish with minor edge and high spot wear overall with thinning and actual blue loss on the front grip strap and the lower portion of the main spring housing. The grips are in excellent condition with nice checkering on both sides with no handling marks. The leather holster is in fine condition with a nice even brown color overall with nice sharp markings, and proof with tight stitching. The web belt is in very good condition with a nice light green color overall with minor wear from use. The magazine pouch is also in excellent condition with nice tight stitching overall with clear sharp markings, showing some light soiling on the flap from actual use over the years.
