Lot 3802 Documented U.S. Springfield Armory M1D Sniper Rifle with Scope and DCM Papers

This Garand has been arsenal/depot converted to a M1D sniper rifle configuration. The M1D sniper rifles were an improved version of the M1Cs in that any standard M1 Garand rifle could be converted to this sniper rifle configuration by just adding the new M1D barrel. This allowed numerous WWII rifles to be overhauled and converted during the early part of the Korean War, Vietnam and into the early 1970s by National Guard and Reserve units. The rear of the receiver has the standard Springfield Armory markings and the serial number range puts this receiver as being originally manufactured in 1943. The Springfield barrel is marked "1 53 MD34" and has a flash hider. It is fitted with a correct M84 sniper scope with correct M1D mount. The serial number of the scope is "34783" and comes with a rubber eyepiece and sun shield. The stock has a circled "P" on the grip, a DOD stamp on the left side and a lace on leather cheekpiece stamped "MRT/6-52". With a CMP certificate.
