Lot 70SB Egyptian Dancer - Limited Edition Bronze by Sergey
Sergey was born and educated in Moscow where he studied art at Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts and the Moscow School of Theatrical Art. As a young artist he worked in theaters and television stations specializing in sculpture for the performing arts. He always had a tendency to sculpt delicate and sophisticated figures in motion. Sergey immigrated to the United States in 1977 where he settled down in New York. He found work restoring church interiors, bronze and porcelain sculptures, oil paintings and antique frames. Sergey considers 1983 to be a very lucky year as he began working for Joel Mentsner & Co. as a sculptor. He met Erté and Yamagata and began creating sculptures from their sketches, drawings and graphics. After the death of Erté in 1990, Sergey continued developing his skills and the style he admired remaining faithful to the unique manner of the late artist. "Egyptian Dancer" is approx. 21"H x 7"Wx 10"D and 31lbs. It is a Limited Edition out of 399. SB9H1FF
