Scottish bacteriologist (1881–1955) who shared the 1945 Nobel Prize in Medicine for his role in the discovery and isolation of penicillin. Fleming writes, in part: “I have not sent any Christmas cards but now on Christmas day I wish you good cheer and good fortune in 1952. I have just eaten and drunk well and I feel at peace with the world.
