Lot 65 1866 (21 February) Dublin Castle letters relating to the Irish Republican Brotherhood

13 by 8 in.

Two letters sent from Dublin Castle to the Magistrates at Lucan and Newcastle Petty Sessions stating that female prisoners should be sent to Grangegorman prison due to "the occupation of Kilmainham Gaol by prisoners charged with or suspected of treasonable practices" An interesting piece of legal ephemera directly relating to attempts to repress the IRB.
