ARAB-SASANIAN: al-Muhallab b. Abi Sufra, ca. 694-698, AE pashiz (0.55g), NM, ND, A-31E, Gyselen-23, facing portrait both sides, name MWHALP in Pahlavi very clear to right of obverse, some corrosion spots, mainly on obverse, lovely strike, About Very Fine, RRR. Derived from the so-called Anahita drachm of the Sasanian ruler Khusro II (Göbl 218-219), but with the obverse facing portrait dressed in clothing probably reflecting some degree of Byzantine influence on copper coinage in Iran.
