ABBASID: al-Ma'mun, 810-833, AV dinar (3.73g), NM (Egypt), AH211, A-222.10, clipped & slightly crinkled, citing the Egyptian governor 'Abd Allah b. Tahir, Fine, RRR. 'Abd Allah b. Tahir was the 3rd member of the Tahirid dynasty, who succeeded his brother Talha at Marw in AH213 and had served briefly as governor of Egypt earlier. The name has also been read as 'Ubayd Allah b. Tahir, but the first word is not clear on this specimen, but is clearly 'Abd on the example in the Tübingen collection, the only example recorded by Bernardi.
