Lot 470 ABBASID: Abu'l-Jird, ca. late 8th century or later, Glass-paste jeton (6.12g)
ABBASID: Abu'l-Jird, ca. late 8th century or later, Glass-paste jeton (6.12g), A-338U, Nicol-6022, Morton-374, inscribed only with the official's name, also read as either Abu'l-Hazan or Abu'l-Hazn, perhaps even Abu'l-Harar, choice Extremely Fine, RR. The dating of this piece is uncertain. Morton suggests late 8th or 9th century AD, Petrie roughly 11th or 12th century, Nicol 13th-15th century. I am inclined to accept Morton's dating in the century, due to calligraphy and style.
