Lot 893 SHAYBANID: 'Abd Allah II, 1583-1598, AV 1/4 mithqal (0.96g), NM [Badakhshan], ND
SHAYBANID: 'Abd Allah II, 1583-1598, AV ¼ mithqal (0.96g), NM [Badakhshan], ND, A-2994, four-petal flower on top of the obverse field, Extremely Fine. The ¼ mithqal should theoretically always weigh about 1.15g, but the Badakhshan type is always in the range of 0.90-0.97 grams, thus a local currency not related to the Central Asian mithqal. It is perhaps 1/12 gold tanka of the Mughals in India, which would normally weigh about 0.92g.
