U. S. Model 1841 Naval cutlass, marked "N. P. Ames, Cabotville, Mass", with U.S.N. and 1842 on reverse. The sword shows original marking on guard of large numerals, either 66 or 99. The blade shows light to slightlyheavy pitting and erosion, some cleaning but good markings that are fully visible. The hilt is good with an uncleaned patina and no evidence of polishing.
